War within the worse optimized expansion for smooth gameplay?

Hi,

Played wow for many years, with intel i7 13700K and RTX4070.

Raids have always been shuttering and not really enjoyeble for that reaons, but 5 man content has always been running smooth.

In war within I feel that half of the dungeons feel “shoppy” and fps goes from 130 to 80 on 5+ target pulls and it feels like 40 fps even if it shows 80 fps.

I have turned everything to lowest, track if any addon/wa is CPU intensive - turned off/replaced a lot of addons etc etc.

It just ruin the whole xperience when your lagging every time you pull 5+ mobs.

I will pay 3.000.000 gold to anyone who can discord me and watch my gameplay and help me figureing out what cause this - but yet again I think there is no solution since everyone I talk to have the same problem. Crazy that they cant make a smooth game after 20 + years of developing.

Why does wow classic feel butter smooth but when you jump into a retail dungeon you feel like the game has gone backwards during these years in terms of performence…

Not much you can do when the source of the problems is the game engine.

Some settings you should check though:

-renderscale MUST be at 100%, not lower, not higher, it has been bugged for 6+ months now and will kill your FPS even on a 4090

-turn RT shadows off even if your GPU can easily handle them, they have a high CPU cost

-in open world and open dungeons, viewing distance and environmental details hit the CPU hard, do not go above 7 even on high end hardware, not worth the FPS cost

-in some areas compute effects (volumetrics like fog) and liquids (water) can have a big impact, set to good if you are having problems there

Also I heard that Target FPS option is bugged too.

I think it never actually worked
