Warband map to Everywhere - how does it work?

Just returned to the game after a very long time and levelling alts.
I’ve tried using the warband map, but I can’t figure out why it’s not showing areas I’ve fully explored.

For example I’ve fully explored dreanor and got that achievement for it and its not revealing dreanor for any of my characters.

How is this spell meant to work?

I’m not really sure, you can report it as a bug if it doesn’t work as intended.

I believe it just unlocks the flight paths you’ve previously unlocked. You still have to travel around the zones to reveal them on the map.

That’s the toy you can buy at the heirloom vendor.

The warband ability from you spellbook should reveal the map

^ There is the auto discovery.

I have a suspicion that it’s kept to allow one last tool to track character progress.
For example, I think I was able to track my progress on my first MoPR character by looking at map story milestones, but I’ve just started a new shaman with old content (my weakness, love to replay classic zones) and everything is ticked. I can play the quests and they show up, but anyway, the only way to know where I’ve been is to look at the map.

(Plus, being scaled, non-linear classic storylines are totally broken. Like when you enter Bloodmyst you have access to the very last quest right away. You can at least follow a sensible path across the map.)
