Warbands, HELP me understand!

I have a dying question in mind, I hope someone can share a light on it.

I have my main character in a low populated realm, that really bothers me since I want to be on a high populated realm since there are more people there and I am guessing the queing time for dungeons and such is less on a populated realm.

Unfortantly I did not know much about realms before so thats why my main is there and it costs like 25 dollars to move him to another realm.

My question is what happens to my character who is on a low populated realm and another of my character who is on a high populated realm, will my low pop character move to the high pop realm thanks to warbands? Is it a good investment to pay and move my main to a high pop realm or will warbands fix this?

Its really bugging me, I cant understand how warband does this, you choose characters from all your realms like azyremyst or burning legion, then which realm are they in? which realm do they play in when you enter the world, azyremyst or burning legion?

Warbands shares your progression across all toons. It won’t move your toons.

So in other words, my main is still stuck on that god awful low populated realm?

Btw, realms has nothing with queued content, you are queued with other realms of the same language.

AFAIK, in TWW, the only things which stays realm specific are craft orders and some part of AH (gear), everything else (including guilds) are cross realm.

Thats really good to hear, so mostly it does not matter anymore that my main is on a low populated realm?

I like this cross realm, I really hope it evolves since I dont want to pay 25 dollars to move my character to a more populated realm.

No, it does not matter anymore. You will be able to play with anyone from any realm at any level, so realm population almost doesn’t matter.

For the only thing it would matter will be for non-material AH, but with warbands you will be able to move any item to any realm so I think you should be able to create a level 1 character to access any AH in Europe.

Although I am not sure about work orders.

Thank you! I finally have more insight into this

They are also cross-faction (have been for a while), though unfortunately queueable content and questing in a group will still remain faction-specific. I don’t fully understand why, because where’s the harm in doing NM/heroic/TW dungeons and LFR together across factions? Everything else, even mythic raiding, will be cross-faction/cross-server.

I believe it’s hardcoded somewhere in their spaghetti code. And it’s not easily changeable without affecting PvP queues (which should stay faction specific). Otherwise they would make it cross-faction long time ago.

I see some others have already told you, but unless for some reason you want to, you don’t need to realm change  Que times are not realm specific and soon cross-realm will also be possible

On a side note, I don’t play THAT much, but I do from time-to-time play frequently and I do both PVP and PVE, so if you ever need someone to play with or just chill with feel free to hit me up

Sure, I could always have another friend to have fun with  Specially with pvp, I remember some time ago looking for someone to do rated pvp with but had no luck finding anyone haha

realms at this point in time are nearly cosmetic choices
all they really influence is what your outdoor zones are like when you are not in a group
Because when you are in a group and you are not the group leader, you will just be phased to their outdoor zones and phases.

The only real meaningfull difference is the split between RP and Normal, but I wouldn’t be suprised if the future holds an RP mode to separate that like they did with pve and pvp realms
