Warcraft used to be about, you know, FIGHTING. Orcs vs Humans. Horde vs Alliance, that kinda thing. Simple. Brutal. And FUN. It was an escape, ya know? A place where you could just bash some horde skulls and NOT think about all the real-world BS.
Now? It’s all lectures and… agendas and stuff. Every damn storyline is some, like, thinly veiled thing about real-world issues. Every character has to be this perfect, you know, representation of some social group. I DON’T CARE about their “complex motivations” or their “inner struggles” that are supposed to be, like, mirrors of current events. I came here to ESCAPE that crap, not have it shoved down my throat! Seriously!
Warcraft’s becoming this preachy mess, and it’s all because the people at the top are too scared of offending anyone. They forgot what WARCRAFT means. It’s supposed to be about war, not lectures! They should go back to that.

I love to get sucked down into things! Lets see how this develops! Maybe it makes some new groundbreaking arguments that solves all the worlds problems! And we all go back to being friends and just enjoying games!
Spread the love! Have fun! Good times!
And bless god-emporor Orangeman
Thing is: It’s better to ignore the threads made by a level 10 Classic character that only has 7 posts.
Why these people don’t just quit, is beyond me.

Bussinesses always go for the money, it’s natural. It’s why all of those big corps like Starbucks, Meta, McDonalds, Microsoft, etc. we’re seemingly supportive of all the liberal/inclusive/whatever policies. Let me give you a hint, it wasn’t out of of the goodness of their heart
.
Luckily, the pendulum is swinging back and the new US administration is already making them swing along with it towards the money, shocking, I know. Just like seemingly over night Zuckerborg developed a human personality, got on TRT and in the gym and is steering Meta away from the woke lunacy, so too will Microsoft/Actiblizzard, and along with it WoW. The world is healing

Let’s be honest, the direction hasn’t been much better for the last 10 years.
I agree to much Disney kids game. There is no warcraft in warcraft. Its to bright and shiny. They are lucky gameplay is still solid otherwise they would loose much more players.

It’s been like this since Warcraft 3.
Threads like this are becoming a preachy mess.

Is, warcraft is a preachy mess.
A lot of Studios and Teams ruined themselves/lost a lot money in 2024, literally go woke, go broke.
Problem with WoW is, we the customer are the most loyal and addicted one and thanks to classic and the people buying the stuff from the shop, Blizz is still doing great. So this year is unlikely that something changes with those boring Stories.

I agree.
Its just a shame there isnt any way to fight other players and really test your skill in game.
If only they had some sort of system where you could challenge each other and really fight!
ah well…maybe someday
/wistful sigh
wow has definately gotten less violent over time.
Replaying classic wow as a horde member. Alot of quests involve me bringing back heads as proof of a kill.
When is the last time we had to collect a bounty in the game ? You kill mob , counts as completed run back to quest giver.
I feel the dark tones of wow have become kiddy-fied. Like next expansion is about the void , the void litterally consumes all life to grow. It should be terrifying , but it’s going to be a bright purple blobs. I mean … I’m scared.
Wow has no edge, no tension, and no friction right now. Neither in the gameplay, nor in the art, nor in the story. I want to see the game do well, but their artists and narrative designers are not doing a very bad job, and the gameplay people are too scared of creating mechanics that matter and that can’t be overcome with good arcade gameplay. They are also understandably scared of change, because they don’t wanna piss any longterm players off. I can criticize a lot about gameplay, but I understand why they are careful. For the narrative direction there is no excuse though, that one’s not good enough. I also want to criticize art, but it’s not that it’s terrible, I think it’s just not the right move for warcraft as a genre with the playerbase it attracts. I think they need to think about for whom they make this game, and why they chose what they chose.
Not meant as doomer post, just a realistic take on how the game has felt in 11.0, let’s hope 11.1 will be better
