Warforged and Titanforged Items

I noticed this via MMO Champion which linked to an article on a German site.

Blizzard wants to remove the system for war-forged and titanium-forged items. But you do not know what you could compensate for. Without this system, some players would have their maximum gear after 5 weeks and thus have nothing left to do.

I used to feel happy when I maxxed out my gear and felt inclined to play alts without worrying about losing ā€˜upgrade time’ on my main.

Would definitely benefit me to not even replace the annoyance of WF/TF with anything for sure.

I would really like to see it go. I realise the debate about TF/WF has been done to death but Blizzard have said they aren’t willing to get rid of the system in the past. This is the first time I’ve seen them possibly acknowledge it’s a problem, or simply that the game might be better without it.

and hopefully it wont be another ā€œremoval of thunderforgingā€

Thank god for that if it’s true.

They could always compensate for the removal of WF/TF with deterministic gear upgrade options or just more interesting loot than the mainstat - stamina - double secondary stat paradigm. Or… you know… non-gear rewards that are worth bothering with.

TBH the removal of this system is compensation enough for the removal of this system

So far nothing I’d call solid evidence but if its true I’d be most elated. It might just get me interested in raiding again which is great, I’d love that.

The war/titanforging is personally a bit annoying to me when I fall behind someone else, who just gets a couple of lucky warforges on the most important items and I have almost everything at just base item level besides just some sockets as procs. Not playing worse, just the ilvl from procs adds up eventually and there’s nothing to do about it. I attended the same amount of raids, but the personal loot makes the procced gear mostly untradeable. In the past we could at least have a fairer distribution of those items, so that discrepancies in ilvl in the team were at minimum.

It also makes getting off-spec geared harder, because of the items dropping with wf/tf/socket. If it is a base item dropping all the time, then after a certain amount of runs nobody would want it for MS anymore and it would be up to grabs. But alas… Of course, it still is possible to eventually collect some scraps to get the OS gear, but takes considerably longer with the random procs and personal loot.

I think they always knew it was a problem but since they have no solution, it was fine.
It may have something to do with the new neck glyph drop system, power increase through harder content, from fixed sources. Probably they will replace wf/tf with some sort of grindable or random drop upgrade token to avoid people being full geared in 2 weeks and retain the sense of progression through repeatable content.
Good hypotesis are token drop from weekly cache or from last raid boss.
