Warcraft seems to be a very blatant and weak ripoff of the incredible Warhammer™ universe.
In light of Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer 2, I can only conclude that the Games Workshop IP is vastly superior.

Warcraft being a Warhammer ripoff is hardly a secret; they even admit to it in the credits of the first couple games. They’ve taken a very different direction though. Both have their merits.
Meh,both made of butchered mythology from around the world.
What is Warhammer ?
Rome Total War is better
It’s a known fact.
Blizz tried to get the Warhammer license from gamesworkshop, but they refused.
Then they proceeded to produce one of,if not the most famous MMORPG worldwide and this seemingly seriously affected GamesWorkshop as they now sell their license to anyone in hope to not make such mistake ever again.
It’s not as if Warhammer back in the day wasn’t ripping off anything either… oh wait.

Sorry, that was a little confrontational of me, but whenever I see people refer to licensed video games as warhammer it irks me big time. Kinda like calling hearthstone “warcraft” if you get what I’m saying.
Same as starcraft was inspired by 40k, and turn 40k seems to be taking inspiration from starcraft (citation: hammerfall drop turret). Taking ideas from different IPs is nothing new.
Tbf captain, Total Warhammer really is a lot like playing actual Warhammer, prior to the current complete pile of excrement that is Age of Sigmar. I get the general gist of what you’re saying, but TW really is worthy of the license and comparison.
What if I told you I like them both equally.
Fair point, I’ve never played TW but I kinda got carried away with the principle.
You know it’s a good year (aware of the irony) when 40k gets a new edition and wow gets a new xpac.
Warcraft was nice. The first cinematic with the elf running, the undead warlock with internals, the Dwarf hunter… Awesome ee.
But Warhammer is so deep
Digital games seem to be a very blatant and weak ripoff of the incredible board games™ universe.
Wasn’t warcraft planned to be a Warhammer game in the beginning, but then they did not get the license and so they made their own game? I remember something like this, that’s why they’re similar
