Which one of these two would you recommend for my friend who bought the time for the game and is thinking about one of these two? Which one Has more pros than cons? Which one Has better dmg and potential? Thanks for answers
Druid. It has better dmg, actual healing and tankiness. Also you have convoke
And more utility, than warlock. I don’t mind our utility, I only want more tankiness
Sorry to say this but Druid, as a Hybrid it’s hands down is a better class right now.
Druid is incredibly easy to play and understand. It has very few buttons rotationally and does very good dmg. You have more spec variety if you want to try other roles.
If you want ‘pure dmg’ Warlock is currently the best dmg class in the game and has been for multiple xpacs at this point. They will always have at least one spec being top few (usually aff/destro), neither are too complicated to pick up.
Can your friend make trial classes and try?
I would also suggest Druid. While Warlock has tools: Combat res, healthstone, can summon etc. Druid also can combat res but Druid let your friend try all three roles by levelling just one class. I think end game is also easier to get to as Druid.
Depends on what content your friend wants to push. Currently Druid seem to be the safer bet, not only because both Feral and Balance does decent damage (feral lacks the utility needed to get into keys) but he also has Resto and Guardian there if he wants to give a try to tanking.
Warlock on the other hand always has a raid spot in raids, one of its three specs is always viable (in case of druids Balance is often has the Ret paladin effect, not bringing enough for some guild to take them over a mage or lock) and you have some unique utilities no other class has (gateway and healthstone are invaluable in high end content.)
The notable drawbacks of warlocks come from their pets. Both your interrupt and magic dispel/purge comes from different pets being out, which you cannot always swap out. In case of dungeons you can always find yourself having issues whenever there is a mechanic that can hit your pet, since re-summon is a good 5 second long (without the CD that makes it near-instant) and costs a soul shard.
I’d still lean towards druid unless your friend doesn’t want to try out healing and tanking at all. Learning how to warlock will later down the line help you out better, because as I said they are a class that always has a viable spec in all content (maybe not PvP, but they do pretty well in M+.)
There is no cd that makes it instant, it is still a 0.5 seconds cast. The tooltipp is wrong.
Druid is actually stronger then warlock, in all parts of the game(when you want to do all).
He brings more to the team than warlock.
My bad, wanted to write near-instant.
Multi-tasking is bad. Will edit it now.
And while that is true it is only a temporary thing. Balance isn’t a spec that is often among the top specs, while one of the warlock specs always is (affliction is still really good in near high end M+ and in PvP from what I have heard, and of course it is really good in raids.)
I wouldn’t realistically count on Balance staying as good as it is right now for long.
Who told you that? Warlock is close to being bad in pvp, look at awc. Just one or two locks. And then they need to run away instead of dealing dmg.
Druid is really good pick. It allows them to try all possible playstyles. It has melee and ranged DPS as well as healer and tank and is the most versitale class in game with it’s 4 specs.
As far as damage goes, I assume they want to play ranged class since we are talking here? So balance druid essetnialy has a hybrid playstyle with both dots and direct damage effects, it has lot of passives that improve the flow of your gameplay. It’s not neccesarily always fun though but it can be really really fun and you also have pretty nice talents in case you want to make it even more fun.
Druid also has huge mobility advantage since you have both travel form and cat form with sprint too and with the right talents you have nearly every kind of mobility avaiable to you.
Another huge thing about shapeshifting is tanking and healing. Druid already has lot of healing with heals over time which are pretty decent and you can turn to bear form to tank. Bear form also allows you to have more max health which means you can switch to bear form to get more out of your healing.
Im pvper so I don’t know but to my knowledge Druid is also one of the most meta classes for PvE (though Affliciton seems to beat it in raids) and it is great in PvP with two viable covenants and convoke the spirit that could oneshot players plus immunity to polymorph and everything you are asking for.
Lock meanwhile has three specs. In PvE all three can be played as far as I know but affliction seems to be the optimal. Imo the three specs are also poorly designed or at least poorly designed relative to what they used to be.
Lock kinda also doesn’t have the passives unlike druid. You can get pretty decent CC, especialy in PvE where shadowfury is also useful and it seems you can definetly find succes with it at least in that kind of content.
In PvP, affliction sees some high end play and there is prominent locks. Destro has less of that and demo has even fewer. Affliction though can perform well enough though it could be bit difficult with it having mostly shadow damage. Destro casts bit more but you can make it work and Demo performs quite poorly due to design flaws (though obviously with enough dedication you can make even that work, however it is not optimal at all.)
You can make lock work but I feel it’s not controversial to say druid beats it in most ways.
Edit: also i hope i didn’t sound too negative, I tried to be objective despite my personal options. Your friend should definetly try lock too probably but druid is safer choice for sure
I gave your answer to my friend and he is really grateful! Thanks for your advices, It really helped him out! Now he even wants to buy the game even faster hah
I wish him good luck. Also despite all my criticism of warlock, he should try warlock as well to see how he likes it.
Still I think druid is definetly more versitale and can do basicaly everything, it is consisntently good and has a lot of options, so yeah definetly recommend druid
i leveled a warlock while my friend leveled a druid same zone same ilvl warlock won becourse it killed faster and was more tanky and did not go umm …
