In all seriousness though, Blizzard, can we get some Firestone love? Scrap Lake of Fire, its clear there’s no saving that one (thank god its gone for the sake of our sanity in PvE), and turn it into something… fun. Better something meme than something dead. You’ve had all these years to make a Battle Mage archetype and you haven’t (DK’s don’t count).
It’s been staring you right in the face all this time, yet you miss it time and time again, avoiding its gaze as it stares intently at you, begging to finally get some attention, yet you keep trying to pretend like it doesn’t exist out of awkwardness and shame. Just imagine if instead of Metamorphosis we got Firestone support and warlocks ended up tanking with it instead of looking like purple Illidan wannabes with a spec identity crisis.
Bah who am I kidding, they don’t read these forums. Shameless self promotion then I guess.
I have suggested it before and I will do so again. Firestone proc needs to scale with SP (10-30%, whatever seems balanced), and the Improved Firestone talent needs to be buffed / tweaked, either make it proc from all damage including dot and other spells, or make it proc from pet melee attacks when you take the talent. That way the talent becomes actually usefull and demo lock becomes viable as DPS spec (since they clearly dont want to go demo given the change to soul link when you tank).

I agree on allowing to scale slightly, but allowing it to proc from dots and spells would be too broken and kinda defeats the purpose of the flavour of having to melee.
I’d rather get something like:
Having firestone equipped removes the swing reset timer on casting spells, converts SP to a very minor portion of attack power, while also giving you an increased chance to proc weapon onhit effects (since we lack any melee abilities to increase the proc rate), and also removing the glancing blows penalty.
Last phase I was memeing as firestone in gnomer a couple times, damage wasn’t bad enough to be considered useless, it was still fine despite the glancing blows. It just needs a slight nudge and adjustments to make it decent.
The problem is that it is a temporary weapon buff that competes with wizard oil that increases your dps in general and shadow oil that procs legit shadow bolt rank 3 that scales with your gear and talents, so if you want to play melee lock best option at the moment is to go with shadow oil (hits for 200 non crit with my decent tanking gear at the moment and can crit for 400 with Ruin talent).
It being a temporary weapon buff wouldn’t be an issue if it got tuned properly, but yes its bad. At least it benefits from all the % increases including incinerate. Its a shame its been left in the gutter to rot since the dawn of time, and especially moreso now in SoD. Before you could make the argument #NoChanges
