Warlock buffs announced for next week

Every warlock spec is getting hefty buffs with Destruction seemingly receiving more love than the other two. Warlock brings a lot to the table already and we’re quite survivable. The only thing keeping us down was that we were undertuned, but these buffs seem quite substantial considering how Blizz tends to be scared of buffing underperforming specs for more than an embarrassing 2-5% like they did with Feral. Are we finally making it into the higher key pushing meta?

playing only PvP especially demonology and destruction are decent buffs. Reverting demon core generation to 100% is an extremely positive thing that will improve mobility and all damage related to demon bolts (doom, doomguard spawn, immutable hatred). Luckily most of the buffs will be both PvE and PvP.

They also wrote that they will continue to monitor the class, I am moderately satisfied as any exaggerated buffs would have led to heavy nerfs within a short time as usual

The buffs are welcomed. But it still doesn’t address the fundamental flaw in our class design. We need more mobility and our procs to be instant or casting on the move.

unfortunately for talent tree restyling and gameplay changes we have to hope and wait for the next patch.

Surely the possibilities in this day were: a flat aura increase by x%, a PvE only increase, or even nothing. The only fact that they reverted the RNG dreadstalkers demon core proc abomination greatly amazed and encouraged me

I just saw a comment on YouTube saying everything is great. Am I playing a different class?

he probably wrote the comment about 15 years ago with internet explorer

What I dont fully understand is what blizzard is thinking with these buffs tbh…?

Affliction has quite alot of tuning knobs for single target, which we have the biggest issues with. you can buff UA, Haunt Instant DMG or %value, oblivion, shadowbolt… yet they chose to buff agony ones again, which already surpasses UA in single target (which makes no sense considering UA is a casted spell).

On AOE affliction just needs some further qol adjustments like shorter VT cd, shorter SOC casttime and a larger radius for SOC application (yet a shorter casttime would already do quite alot for affliction).

Gameplay wise (atleast in my opinion), I feel like affliction is pretty decent.

I think we need to look at our curses. I know we have curse of the satyr on Hellcaller, but something like Impending Catastrophe would help. I won’t lie, I sometimes forget my curses because it is applying them one by one.

we are still talking about the same developers who prevent you from casting an incinerate on the move but allow a hunter to shoot arrows while they jump without aiming problems.

Regarding the damage of the agony instant (and spammable) which produces more damage than a spell cast on a single target, it is nothing new, just see how instant spells produce more damage than a chaos bolt despite cast time and resource.

Let’s say these are presumably buffs, I hope, initial and scouting. They don’t solve the root problem of the class, but for that you need to pray and wait for a minor or major patch. They can certainly lighten the mood of customers a little because at least they can see that something is being attempted.

It would be important that after years in which they always did as they thought best and finding themselves (and we with them) in the quagmire of rather obvious cumbersome gameplay problems, they took more advice and ideas from us.

The advice is free and often very interesting

a sort of howling blast with a wide range and instant with CD and with a significant initial damage and curse+DOTs would be enough to have some utility in a mythic+ to produce damage immediately, without the fact that while you are trying to control the weakauras the mobs are already dead for two minutes

The raw damage increase is appreciated, though I worry that such changes could be steadily reduced again over time. They’re a decent compromise for the time being but what I’d really like to see is more quality of life changes.

Warlock being an almost exclusively hard caster with limited mobility simply doesn’t work in an era of the game where practically every other class has a lot of gap closers. The biggest issue with our teleportation spells is that they are telegraphed in advance so any opponent in PvP knows exactly where to head towards to counter us easily if we’re liable to try and escape.

Burning rush, meanwhile, deals damage and in PvP that isn’t viable since it really just helps the enemy. Our curses, especially curse of exhausation, help a bit - but a lot of classes have the ability to self dispel.

Exactly right. The buffs are nice, don’t get me wrong, but they need to listen to the community. For example, one of our iconic cc (shadowfury) has a cast time when ever classes do not.

Why are Blizzard so intent to keep warlocks in the past whilst everyone else has caught up. We need to change. Mobility, utility, and survivability.

And please, please, please give us a choice node for an interrupt to either be on the cast or on our pet. Make our demons meaning full.

And one last thing give us two charges of demonic circle and allow us to pin point. Who uses the eye of kilrogg anymore?!

I use the eye at the start of every M+ ,but that’s a thing blizz could change as well…
