Warlock Demon Customisation

Warlocks have 5 demons that we use and there has been a cry from the Warlock community for ages now. We need to be able to fully customise our demons. I’m hoping with the new features coming this is looked into for Midnight.

Disclaimer: I know there are issues with the class that need to be addressed, but when this was brought in with DF and then dropped

Now, I am thinking the level customisation we are able to do with our dragon mounts and the delvers mount, but for our demons. Allow us to change:

  • Each demon having a interrupt or a choice node caster/demon
  • Change skin tones
  • Armour
  • 1-H and 2-H weapons
  • Models (I would love General Erodus from Antorus as my Tyrant or a Fel Elemental or the Coven of Shivarra models)
  • Scars
  • Horns
  • Wings
  • Tails

The possibilities are endless. This would make each Warlock unique and for it to feel personal.

Like hunters have a stable, we could have a grimoire or summoning circle to be go in a customise our demons.

Also, a side note, make it so that Grimoire: Felguard is a standard Felguard and not a copy of our main demon. That feels odd and looks boring.

So, when it comes to Warlocks and customizing the way their demons look, that would be a very tricky system to implement for a few key reasons.

First, there’s the hardware limitation. Adding more visual elements for the game to generate will inevitably impact performance. We already see mass complaints every expansion about FPS drops; implementing extensive new customizations would only exacerbate that problem.

Second, you create a precedent that leads to demand across other classes. Hunters, for example, would likely want to customize their pets with armor. Druids would demand more options for their Cat, Bear, and Moonkin forms. Demon Hunters would want to customize their Metamorphosis appearance. This could quickly spiral, creating far more development hassle than the initial goal of pleasing one specific set of players.

That said, it’s important to acknowledge that Warlocks already have far more pet customization than any other class in the game. Between multiple skins and different forms for their demons—a system that was greatly expanded in Legion —they are in a much better position than, say, a Hunter with their pets.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t add more. I’m just arguing that any new feature must be implemented in a way that makes sense and, most importantly, doesn’t negatively impact players in the ways I mentioned above.

Sounds like a great idea!

It’s fine as it is for me.

But hunters can tame a lot more variety and pets than a warlock can summon demons.

Also, what system did they introduce in Legion? They only added new skins in DF and they missed a lot off.

Hunters have a stable and more options than warlocks so I’m not sure where your idea of them having less is coming from.

Additionally, warlock demons have had their powers greatly reduced over the years. We’re stuck with with the felhunter for interrupt or felguard if you are demonology.

If they can do it with dragon mounts and delver mounts then why not apply to a small player base?
