I am enjoying all three specs but currently testing Affliction. To be honest I am very much disappointed with its performance in dungeons and I don’t know what to do. Comparing to other classes, while I am usually the only caster there apart from healers while even shamans come as Enhancement, I am the worst dpser
My question is how to be competitive? Everything is on long GCD, when I finish to DoT a target, Hunters, Warriors, Paladins usually are about to kill a mob. And I have given up on multitarget. I tried Seed of Corruption but usually run out of souls. When I try to DoT all the targets, because GCD is quite long, I can’t even finish it because they are all dead. My damage is embarrassing.
Well, if you don’t want to re-spec, I suggest getting some add-ons - namely MaxDPS and WeakAuras. They can do wonders to your efficiency and, correspondingly, your dps rating.
There are ways to make numbers as affli in dungeons… Kalamazi made a video about it and did roughly 80-90k overall in freehold i believe? How ever affli is still subpar compared to basically everything.
I recommend demonology, its more fun and way mlre rewarding
affli and destro suck in dungeons coz both don`t have utilities to do sustain AOE dmg, so if u wanna be competitive then re-roll to demo or fire mage or rogue or demonhunter or beast mastery hunter
Affliction is underperforming. Dot specs are a challenge for the devs to balance, so they will either blow everything out of the water or they’re bottom of the barrel.
You dont have to be top dps, affliction dots are like an insurance policy that the mobs will die. It also depends heavily on gear. You dont play affliction for burst; you play affliction because its fun watching things run away and still die.
You can check M+ tournaments. No Warlocks whatsoever. Simply because Warlocks do not work in M+.
Some people mention higher keys; in higher keys, such as 23, 25 etc. they make very big pulls where you blow up all your cooldowns and do insane damage. No freakin’ way a Warlock can compete with Unholy DK or DH’s sustained aoe.
So no. Affliction does not work in higher keys either. On top of that; melees benefit from the twilight devastation. For a Lock staying in the melee range is just incredibly awkward.
Some guy mentioned 90k damage overall as Aff… Come on… Have you watched any 25 keys etc.? People do 150 to 200k dps there.
I say spec into Demo. Though it has its own demons.
What strikes me the most is I have been playing this toon for over week and can see more or less what would be important to change/alter in order to improve quality of this spec.
I feel like there are bunch of developers responsible for some parts of the game who are completely detached! They don’t care, they have no freaking clue about the current state. I am more than 100% sure that if anyone who is responsible for the state of warlock, particularly affliction, had just a little passion in and played for about a week would know exactly what to change.
On Wowhead they advertise Shadowlands showing new models, looks, etc. I am quite laughing because all this will be nothing if the core game is as broken is it is now! You can’t polish the turd!
im sorry?? destro sucks in dungeons? most of the top warlocks in M+ are running destro atm.
both destro and demo are both fairly competitive for dungeons, they just have some limiting factors compared to other specs, and are mostly reliant on your having expedient X5 or something
