Warlock life, some change needed

Disclaimer : I’ve never been a big fan of the whole “classic experience” in a way that some older patch have some very annoying feathure that got fixed over time.

My main issue with warlock right now are those soul shard that still take a slot per shard in our bag, and it’s extremely annoying, having bags full of shard for every PVP content is annoying as hell, having a soul pouch doesn’t change anything since we need a ton of shard for BGs/Blood moon, and that doesn’t event take into account the fact that we have to waste time farming them every time.

There is no “classic experience” in that for me, it’s just pure pain, plain and simple :

Bags always full of shard and nothing else
Wasted time every time

There are some easy change that could be done, my wildest dream would be that you just remove them from the game, because let’s just face it : they are useless. But assuming you don’t, at least :

Make them stackable by 20 in your bags so that we can actually have something else in it
Make them buyable at a very small cost at NPCs so we don’t waste time farming them every time.

It’s not that far fetched to be honest, it’s just common sense. All the regeant are stackable, why not soul shard, wich are the most annoying to get.

They are completely deleting the weaknesses from some classes and basically shoehorning in wotlk/cata versions of the class while leaving other classes to keep dealing with their classic roots, the direction is all over the place

I think a stack of 5 is more than good enough.

I also made a post in a different thread that I think Shadow And Flame should be reworked as a rune to instead of giving 10% damage when you crit it instead gives a 15 sec buff where any soul shard ability is free of charge in both soul shard and mana.

But I do not think that soul shards need to be outright removed.

Think about it, if you remove them what happens ? Nothing. You just end up with a spell that no one uses outside of shard farming, and your life becomes 100 time simple. It’s only upside with 0 downside. They already did that with many other class on SOD.

If it was me i’d remove them enterily, or make soul shard only 1 slot in your bag/buyable, so that we NEVER have to worry about them and waste our time for nothing.

That’s the kind of conveniency slope that leads us to proper retail.

I’m all for ironing out kinks but not overpolishing it to the point of uninteresting smoothness.

Warlocks need soul shards, that’s part of their design. An increased stack to 5 is more than enough. With the new skill book to gain increased shards when using drain soul all you need is to turn on the voidwalker, let it gain some aggro then just farm some enemies for a while.

It’s really not that big of a deal.

Especially not if we just do the alteration to Shadow And Flame that I mentioned + the 5min CD item we get from one of the rune quests that allows us to use a shard ability free of cost.

The solution is not to remove a core aspect of what makes classic classic, just tune it to fit with other changes made to SoD.

You also need to be in zone of your level to farm soul shard, it’s not as pink and friendly as you mention it. And they did remove them altogether from retail, it’s not a “classic experience thing”, but we all see things differently.

For me it’s just pain and a waste of time.

I mean, they changed mages default spell to create 20 stacks of water so whoever says “That’s the kind of conveniency slope that leads us to proper retail.” We’ve already passed that stage when they’ve already adjusted default spells, hell look at the latest hotfix for druids

  • Swipe now scales with attack power, gaining 10% of attack power as damage.
  • Threat caused by Swipe greatly increased.

So players need to accept that changes have already happened and we already going towards retail. I am not against changes that just makes the overall experience smoother. I’d like to atleast have them up the soul harvester to instead give a 100% chance of an additional shard, rather than increase your chance each time it fails which just feels so frustrating.

Would be super cool if shards didnt take up bag space though, it gives 0 advantage to pve or even pvp…I’d say we still have to farm shards but instead it links above our hp bars and not use a slot in our bags.
