With recent changes to warlock in TWW, we did get quite a bit more survivability, but my main issue is that it just isn’t in the right direction in terms of class fantasy. While we are now able to use healthstone multiple times, it just doesn’t feel nearly as impactful, because think about it. How useful will this be if you run out of them? Suddenly, you have a dead talent or you are forced to hardcast create healthstone.
So, how do we fix this? Simple, actually. Take it in a different direction. Instead of giving us survivability through healing, give us survivability through pure beefiness. One example of this could be dark pact’s cd being reduced based on how many soul shards you’ve spent.
Point is, warlock, while being decently survivable, is not really living up to its class fantasy, you should be THE turret class. Able to kinda survive most things without really moving much.
Agree, I were so confused whats the purpose of drain life for demo or destro but atleast it were good for affli through talents and now they have removed them from affli too so only healthstones remain as heal as I understand. So whats the purpose of drain life if probably best use for it right now is leave it in spellbook. Its in kinda weird spot, spellbook has these spells that maybe were used for past 20 years but now rendered almost useless for a keybind like drain life for one. It needs some designers to get back to drawing board and rething stuff like do they really want make old core spells used for past 20 years into useless abilities all sudden like drain life and still leave them hanging in the spellbook like a reminder that we used to use this spell to heal.
Drain life also felt very ‘warlocky’ because of how it works and what it does.
This should definitely not have been made so irrelevant in the way that it has been and I felt like it did a lot for warlock class fantasy.
I personally like the new healthstone and I like them lore-wise and mechanically (except the fact that it disappears when you enter or leave instances, please fix that asap…). I think Warlock’s survivability is fine, we have armor, healing, and passive tankiness overall.
The only thing I’d change is our main defensive being 3 minutes (should be 2 and don’t require a talent point to be useful) and Drain Life doing no damage and thus no healing, I’d keep the % increase on the healing but like double or triple the damage so it actually does something.
Many times in dungeons when all my defensives are down and the healer is struggling I tried to Life Drain but it really does nothing.
Nah, it’s still there but does comparatively no healing or damage. The most use that I’ve had for it is to tag mobs quickly when instant spells are on cooldown.
It was used as affli for healing with several talents that increased it but demo and destro had no use for it, they reworked lock tree now for tww and got rid of the talents that made it useful for affli so now its same for that spec aswell. Its not usable in any content as healing no longer as it would take over 40 seconds of channeling just to gain perhaps 10-20% health and its not possible to do and would be waste. Its sad really. I left it on binds but i never find myself press it.
It doesn’t tag until the first tick. It was however useful for me recently getting my legion class mount as if you kill the mobs to fast in last phase they can bug out.
