Warlock or Hunter - PvP

Hello all, I’ve got my main as my pally I’m leveling but I’d love an alt, and I like pets, obviously Hunter has them but lock does as well,

I mainly want to run BGs in rated, MAYBE some arena and some world PvP, between these two, who would you go with?

Lock seems very fun, I love the idea of affliction or destruction spec, both seem they could handle 1v1, and even 1vx maybe.

Hunter seems like they are very good spot, less healing but, overall very mobile and BM and even survival seem fun. So who would you go with?

all 3 warlock specs are good

mm hunter doesnt exist anymore, so u have only 2 specs as hunter

It’s hard to decide, I’ve never played either but I’d like to try, so far I have affliction but healing seems to be non existent

If you like and want to play with pets then hunter is the more obvious choice as you can spend quite a lot of time gathering unique pets you can name yourself. Locks have pets but they’re very limited in design.

If you want LOTS of pets out at one time then BM is the spec you want

Just skip MM if you want to play hunter pvp. You don’t want to deal with that garbage.

BM is really good. SV is ok/decent.

So I do have a level 80 shaman as well (I enjoy Ele and occasional enhancement) Between BM Hunter and say, Ele shaman. Any thoughts? I’ve not geared the Ele shaman so hard to say, but from what I’ve seen they do very well in groups.

It really depends - I have no experience with shaman this xpac.

For Bgs, both Lock and Hunter are doing fine. As Hunter, you sit more on bases and defend. Lock is very satisfying as Affliction to join teamfights and blast everyone.

World pvp, Hunter is overall so much more enjoyable for me, because of the amount of knockbacks/mobility/stealth, you can disengage every fight you didn’t start yourself.

Arena as a warlock means you are the punchingbag 24/7. You need to nail down positioning and be comfortable being trained, because that is our destiny… In lower brackets, it can be very annoying and hard to survive.

Lock mobility overall is very tactical, if you miss a gateway or portal, you’ll be in trouble.

Note that Lock is a caster (and can be kicked/silenced) whereas hunter is literally run and shoot.

If you look for “pets” I want to mention that Lock pet ai is AWFULLY BAD. Also Lock pets seem to disappear all the freaking time - one reason i can’t stand Demo. I’d say in higher brackets, both are limited in terms of pets (Lock sac felhunter for counterspell // Hunter youll use undead raptor/rodent but can have some plays with other pets for added defensive options).

Open world and solo content, I absolutely love my Hunter. Been playing Survival for the very first time and it’s an absolute blast! Green Fire Destruction Warlock is very nice as well tho…
