Warlock, priest, or maybe monk?

So i want a character that i do everything on.
All quests, all reps, all everything. A forever character.

I used to main a priest when i would heal, but i stopped wanting to heal as much and instead dps.
But hated the visual of shadow, and its playstyle was meh.

So i swapped to a warlock who had 3 dps specs i loved and did basically everything.
But it could not heal. Neither other players nor the few old healing bosses.

Ive levelled a monk and found it a lot of fun.
But it has no fun utility and no way to tag from far away while on the run.
Also swapping specs needs different weapons which is annoying.

The change to glyph of shadow to actually now reduce the effect of shadow form means i like the way my character looks as a priest.
And i can play all 3 specs without swapping gear.
And it has all of the utility i could ever want.
(Bad for killing elites as shadow but hey ho cant win them all).

And changing my talents from how i had them before makes shadow priest super fun.

So we have warlock that does everything i mainly want but will never give everything i want.
Monk that nearly does it all but lacks utility and requires new gear to change specs.
And priest where one change to glyph of shadow and i cant stand it again.

Whats your thoughts?

Melee or ranged?

I prefer ranged, but when questing everything ends up in melee range anyhow.
So itā€™s only really dungeons and raids where that matters and im mainly a world player.

Really i like ranged tags tbh as to why i like ranged haha

You play melee as a lock or priest, you doing it wrong

As warlock sure as youve got a tank.
But as priest youve not so if you hit a melee enemy, theyre coming at you with their axe haha

Iā€™ve never tried monk so canā€™t comment.

I have a priest but never seem to find it much fun to play, however I havenā€™t actually played it since the talents changed with DF so maybe they are more fun now?

Warlock is favourite class though, so I am biased in telling everyone to choose lock, specifically destro lockā€¦

:dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Choose whichever class you have most fun with though! If that is priest go priest!!

Not if you play Priest correctly you donā€™t

Its hard for me because ive got warlock which is the most fun. But lacks a healing spec so i can never get everything i can want from it.

Then priest which does literally everything i want.
But one small change and i wont like it any more.
Really its shadow form that makes me hate it, and the updated glyph of shadow makes me like it visually

Then there is monk which does all 3 roles and i enjoy the class.
But its less fun than the other 2 and needs multiple bits of gear to change spec.
Cant tag long range either which is super handy for all content.

So its either the most fun but has a huge gap, the class that does everything but is a huge risk, or the class that kinda does everything and requires more effort but no risk.

Itā€™s decided then.

Give warlock a healing spec and it absolutely is.
But until then i can never do all i want on them :frowning:

I made a thread about this.
Feel free to post on it if you wish to continue this discussion.

Iā€™d just play both lock and priest. They even share cloth, nice for transmog!

Yeahm Cylaris is right
Play both
BUT if you really want to ā€œchooseā€, then I would say Warlock
Yes, it lacks a healing spec, true, but you have cookies and soulstone and herbalism and alchemy is basically warlock traits, toss in cooking and you will provide flask, food, cookies, ress, summ stone and decend damage
And you will have fun, since you said, you like the class

I just spoke it through with my husband and im going to level up a new monk and spend a month as them.

If after a month i want to change, then i have 2 characters ready to jump in.
Should i want to stay as a monk, im ready to go.

Give a druid a try can do everything melee, tank, healer and ranged and very good at solo and has some very beautiful mogs.

I recommend monk because it is versatile, and 2 specs share the same armor type. If you arenā€™t fuzzy about stats you can just get yourself a staff for healing and you are good to go.

For tagging nobs you can use Jade lightning, as the only requirement to tag is to stand still during the cast. You can also take Chi Burst to tag multiple enemies if they got pulled together.

Windwalker has access to two use, 4 target touch of death on a 1:30 minute CD and Brewmaster, with decent gear and Fortifying Brew, can get you around 900k HP, so below that you just oneshot mobs. Your initial burst is pretty good too if you take the time to learn it.

You can also do some really nice mob skips by combining Paralyse and Ring of Peace.

I had the same dilemma as you just in instanced content: I love both my mage and my warlock, but for me the restriction of them only having DPS roles is a deal breaker now that I am not using multiple roles in my raiding guild. This basically condemns my mage and lock to alt status.

Another good thing of monk is that you can take advantage of the call to arms bonuses if you want to earn yourself some easy gold.

Have you thought about shaman? When they come, greet them with your axe and shield.

Thats what are Demons for dear
to tear them apart
If you are a priest, mind control themā€¦

I played every spec of every class, but returned to my first characters: affliction warlockā˜† and warrior. Full circle in nearly 20 years.

ā˜† I donā€™t like the current iteration of the spec, it needs a rework.
