Warlock/Shadow Priest/Or Other

Hello

Despite playing Alliance, after watching some videos and doing some exploring I’m really enjoying Bwonsamdi’s character. The way he acts and the jokes he makes when you die is brilliant :joy: and I’m definitely going to make a horde character to hopefully see more of him.

So this brings me to my question!

What class is Bwonsamdi most like?

I’d love to make a character based on him, but I can’t seem to find one that relates to him the most - just several similarities across different ones. :frowning:

well since he’s a loa of death, a shadow priest is the closest. They have ties with the shadow lands. Don’t let the void spells fool you.

But death and void are being shown as antagonists, so it wouldn’t be the same thing at all. I believe it’s on the comic with the three sisters that came out before the expansion. The whispers tell Alleria that Sylvanas, death, is the true enemy.

I don’t think we have something that it’s similar to Bwonsamdi. Perhaps death knights because they are undead, but even so their powers and their lore are very different from Bwonsamdi’s.

Warlocks I would say are not at all related to Bwonsamdi.

Shadow magic and void magic are not the same. They’re related, but not the same.

Plenty of draenei use shadow magic to commune with their ancestors and take care of their souls.

The class shadowpriest is an amalgamtion of the these two concepts.

Actually, in Chronicles there’s a image of all the powers in the WoW universe, and shadow and the void are clearly the same thing, and close but not the same as death.

I googled “chronicles wow magic” and the image appeared. Unfortunately I can’t post links, but you can search and see for yourself.

It’s not that strict.

Nearly every cosmic force is capable of creating undead creatures. Even nature magic.

Death is the opposite of life as void is the opposite of light. Light grants life and Void is also capable of death and creating the undead.

The concept of death and dealing with souls is not inherent to the entropic force of Death.

To commune with spirits ( those who are no shamans and druids) people often use shadow magic, because souls go to the shadowlands.

Classes are a representation of lore stuff, but still limited to fully show you all the magic and mechanics of the world.

I never said it was strict, just that necromancy isn’t the same as shadow magic in WoW’s universe, and the only class that represents necromancy is death knights.

And light is also capable of creating undead, as we saw with Calia. So death and undeath aren’t the same as void/shadow. And Blizzard is pushing this distinction in the current expansion, going as far as putting death as a new antagonist to life and the void.

In fact with this thematic being so prevalent in this expansion and the fact with seem to be heading to an old god/void lords expansion next, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next class we see is necromancer. But that is just wishful thinking in my part

Thank you both for your inputs

So it seems that Shadow Priest is the most likely/safest route to go in order to keep close to the theme

Thank’s for mentioning this! It’s really cool to look at and see everything on each side
