Mages and Prismatic Crystal - anyone remembers that one?
Gladiator stance for Protection warriors!
Wild Strike, the fastest spell ever introduced in the game, because it had half the GCD of every other attack. I loved that era of Fury warrior.
Windwalker monks had Chi explosion. I really didn’t like that one and I was playing with Hurricane Strike - which is 100 times more fun than Strike of the Windlord by the way.
Good stuff.
WoD truly was the best expansion ever released.
I sense a bit of rose tinted goggles here. I loved WoD and I think most classes were in a good spot but for me WOTLK will forever be the pinnacle of class design.
You can’t mention rise tinted glasses and use the WOTLK card in the same post.
I wouldn’t say WOTLK is the most overrated expansion: it was a good expansion that gets too much praise.
No, Legion is the most overrated expansion, because it was objectively garbage but people still put in on a pedestal for some reason.
But regardless, WOTLK class design isn’t that great. The golden era of class design is the Holy Trinity of peak WoW: Cataclysm-MoP-WOD.
This opinion can’t be argued against because it is the truth.
I think we all have our fair share of bias so no denying that I suffer from this as well. The reason I say WOTLK is because classes still had some of these fantasy quirks that made the game feel like an RPG. The other day I was raiding Naxx and a hunter asked me to craft some arrows for him. It felt good.
It may be a silly reason but I love these little things and I think they give the game so much flavor. Retail with its QOL has its perks no denying but for me, in terms of class design, I love Classic WoW the most.
Rouge for Vanilla and BC. Then I made a Priest mid BC. Mage didn’t come until BFA, but didn’t really play it properly until Shadowlands. I only originally levelled it for Enchanting ;D
Ahh yes the era of Arms Warrior where you pressed MS on CD and then spammed whirlwind, where Mastery only increased CS, Execute and MS damage so no other ability scaled at all with gear turning the spec into something that did nothing until you could press Execute and they had to try to bandaid the spec with setbonuses + archi trinket for HFC.
If that was the only issue , whole gameplay was just AA whole fight . Not that other classes had it better, but man enha sham and retri pala were like peak failure.
But druid, in pvp, that was peak . It was weird, but u had to play at its full potential, u didnt play spec, u played class, and man if someone played it correctly u could tell .
I think WOD Fury was worse than MOP Fury, worse than WOTLK / TBC Fury, Worse than current (aka Legion to now) Fury. It was maybe better than Cataclysm Fury, but I’d have to go back and play it again to be sure.
Arms in Dragon Soul, MOP and Legion were amazing, pretty good in WOTLK too. WOD was the worst expansion for Arms, it was only sorta fixed at the end with the HFC bandaids. WOD Class design was one of the low points in WoW history, imo.
Nowadays, all that I want is to play Warlords of Draenor Classic. To stay in my garrison and do stuff, and sometimes go out in the world for some quests if they put them in. Just give me that and I’m happy.
How can you argue that though?
WoD Fury had Wild Strike, the most satisfying spell for its extremely fast GCD and satisfying sound effect.
WoD Fury also had Warbreaker which would bump enemy players backward. Cool stuff.
Fury had Raging Blow since Cataclysm, including WOD. Wild Strike was the worst recieved new ability to Fury Warrior probably ever, it was memed on until it was removed. Genuine question, are you trolling or what?
No. The spell felt very good to play and I genuinely enjoyed my warrior the most at that time. I miss it. I want the spell back.
My mindset functions the other way around.
I assume everybody around me is bored, and it is my duty to entertain, which I always manage to do with great success because I’m the best forum contributor to have ever existed.
Okay, maybe second to Rorke on the U.S. forums.
