Warmode , simple fix

All I hear people moaning about (apart from the RDF (me included)) is the faction imbalances etc.

I know all you Classic wannabe hardcore lords moan at everything that has the word “retail” linked to it, but literally War mode would be your answer.

For the ignorant of you that haven’t stepped foot in a retail expansion since 2012 (but still call it crap) it goes like this.

You enabled War mode in your main city and you can only turn it off in a main city.

War mode locks your character to a PvP state, and phases you to another layer of its own, filled with all the other glorious war mode players.

If this was set up on classic to be x-realm then ALL pvpers regardless of your origin realm would be able to gank each other in wpvp.

For all I care they could even add in the XP incentive to turn it on to cancel the time lost from dying, IL probably be on PvE realm cuz I’m a baby, we will see.

This way you could have your 99% alliance and 99% horde PvP servers, but still fight each other, in the open world, so long as u turn on war mode.

Simple solution to dying PvP servers

You understand that it’s literally “turn all PVP servers into PVE”, right?

No thanks, warmode is one of the dumbest things they have ever implemented.

As opposed to???

People say it goes to 99% horde Vs 1% alliance

Is it still a PvP server if there is no one left to PvP?

Also just to clarify… War mode has never been implemented in a classic server?

It’s a retail thing, which already has x-realm so didn’t need to exist on retail.

It would literally save classic servers without X-realm

War mode was literally one of the worst things in retail, so please go back there

Lol mentality.

Majority of players will be retail I reckon. Should we all just not bother and let it die out quicker?

so… turn pvp servers to pve with one simple click… wow. that definetely doesnt break the purpose of a… say… a pvp server. xD

Op,good try,but dont bother. People making those mono faction servers cause they dont wont waste time with thing called wpvp, pretending they play on a “cool” pvp server.
They dont need balance, they dont need pvp

No thanks! keep your imbalance, drama and whatnot out of the PvE servers, thank you.
And btw #NoChanges.

Do you even understand what you just wrote?

I posted something that would help balance the PvP side of things. It has zero to do with PvE servers at all. Literally would not touch them

Ahh, you want warmode only on the PvP servers?

Correct

So when they end up going 1 sides they can war mode against other PvP servers

In that case, warmode only on the PvP servers, I see nothoing wrong with your suggestion (apart from #NoChanges, of course  ), only in Retail Warmode made all servers PvP - or PvE if you see it that way

Aye just thinking for the PvP folks.

Then again, it loses blizz money on later transfers so probably never happen lol

No Warmode would not be the solution.

One of the biggest selling point of vanilla was that the server had one world, and that world was occupied by the same people from that one same server. The people you PvP´d against while lvling - was the same people you PvP´d against in later end-game. This created a server community, with drama - revenge and everything that made it great.

The problem still consists with layers in Classic. One good way to resolve this would have been to have no layers and cap player amount per faction - so that Alliance and Horde had a cap per server - and later during the road if one faction left, it would have been easy to merge two servers (one having a Alliance player base with one that has a Horde).

Bad part about retail Warmode is that it can be toggled, on or off. And also that it phases you into “layers” with people from other servers that you won’t ever see again. This makes PvP more or less anonymous, there are no consequences of ganking people left or right - you won’t ever see them again the next phase.

In vanilla, there were consequences - people used to hunt you down and corp camp you - more people got involved, and it was hours of fun.

The only good part about Warmode would be the rewards that it would boost for the minority faction, but that is the only part.

And when u have a server that is 99% horde… What fun is that?

Let’s be real, at launch, this isn’t going to be an issue. I agree with ya there, people will be everywhere.

But when servers are few months old and it’s like that

99% 1 faction , that server finds NO PvP

Instead they beg blizz to open up free transfers because the realm is dead.

Or… Just implement a mechanic that already exists so all WPvp can carry on for PvP serverw

As I wrote.

If every server had a cap per faction, lets say a random number like 2 000 players per faction on the server (with no layers).

This would have reduced having one faction that has 10k players in it. And more or less not possible to merge it with any other.

This would have enabled merging two servers (since the max cap per faction would be 2 000).

It would also not create these mega layered server that would snowball into one faction only. Worst thing that could happen is that it would have 2 000 players of one faction, that could be merged with one server with the opposite faction being capped.

This number that I threw out was random, private servers proved that the number could be greater with no layers.

It’s too late now, but for the fresh Wraith servers, I think this would have been really good to have. And lets be real, the people that want to play on a server that is somewhat balanced when it comes to factions will roll fresh. But the problem could still end up there if Blizzard does not prevent it like described. But we only get one fresh pvp server…

Could work, but are alts taken into consideration on the player cap?

I still prefer the idea of war mode purely cuz there are no transfers or merges.

Just toggle it on and off u go with every other war mode enabled player.

Tbh it probably won’t affect me as IL end up on a PvE probably. I have no friends playing it so getting ganked by squads would suck lol

Think the cap should be per battlenet account (and not based on characters).

Yeah I understand, the good part about Warmode was the buffs and also the tracking of people who ganked a lot and the rewards you got for hunting them. I just hated it due to it making pvp completely anonymous - and the server losing all the community (when layered and phased) - made the game a lot less for me.

Well if the server is balanced, random people would help you, and it would become a bigger fight - but if one faction is dominating, it’s not going to be a lot of fun since there will be 1v10 constantly.

There is one flaw in your plan Cérí, the majority of players on PvP realms are all one faction and they don’t actually want to take part in PvP. Weird innit?
