I’d just like to clarify that this is just going to be a list of possible suggestions with a short description of why I think each of the suggestions would be a good idea. If anyone has any viewpoints I would love to engage in a discussion!
- Add Heroic Strike or some other rage spender that works on your swing timer, this would then be a classwide spell that you could spend along with other spells or in between other spells to spend the rage you have left over, or at lower levels usable as your main attack during levelling before you get more powerful spells.
- Adding Stances again. Although I don’t wish for a stance system that requires the player to be in certain stances to use certain spells (I would agree that is taking it too far) I would still like for stances to be added back to further increase the depth of the warrior class and reinforce the class fantasy. You could make the stances work like they did in MoP and WoD where it is not a necessity but a choice where you get something from each individual stance.
- Enabling Single Minded Fury, I know it perhaps creates problems when it comes to balancing but the option for a player to either play fury with one handers or two handers ought to be there. As with the stances the choice ought to be there for players to further tweek their playstyle to their own wants and needs. (Yes, I know that the majority will just look at what the best is and stick to it but choice, generally is a good thing when it comes to player customization.) If this is not an option I would at least like to see an option for fury warriors to transmog their two-handers into one-handers so that they can have the appearance of a single minded fury warrior. (This would at least avoid potential balancing issues.)
- Rend, Spell Reflect and Disarm made baseline. These are all spells that warriors have had since Vanilla and TBC, they are iconic class abilities and ought to be baseline for warriors not only because of their iconic status but because of the identity it gives a warrior to have these spells, furthermore classes should not have to pick talents in order for their class to feel similar to how it felt before or to feel complete, talents should add tweaks to the already complete class you have at your disposal. A way for players to further customize and personalize their characters, not a process needed for their classes to not feel bareboned.
- Shattering Throw, Challenging Shout and Shield Block is already being “fixed” in Shadowlands!
- Being able to use bows, crossbows and guns as a warrior. I never really understood why Blizzard removed this in the first place? I know it’s not commonly used but it doesn’t even make sense that a class can equip certain weapons but somehow forgot how to use them? I don’t know that seems to just be silly. This isn’t really a major concern though and just something I found a bit funny and weird.
- Execute being usable in Protection. This is a change I don’t really understand, why was execute removed from Protection? It’s a basic warrior ability they’ve had forever.
- Die By the Sword being a cooldown for Fury and Arms again, perhaps whilst nerfing Enraged Regen a bit. I like the healing mechanic that Fury has now I just think it’s gone a bit overboard.
- Reworking Thunder Clap. It feels a bit ridiculous for warriors to have three seperate slows, only one usable per spec. I feel like it would make more sense and preserve the class identity if Hamstring was just made classwide instead, rework Thunder Clap to perhaps increase time between attacks or something similar and have Piercing Howl be a fury spell and talent for Arms instead.
- Shockwave made a talent for Arms and Fury again (can be on same row as stormbolt or on seperate no specific preference there).
- Fury warriors were really fun in legion, I would like to see Furious Slash or another similar spell be made baseline again as I think it was great. I would also like for Odyn’s Fury to become a talent.
- Shield Block and Ignore Pain felt better in legion, reduce the rage cost and if they were too op then nerf the amounts rather than the rage cost. (at least for ignore pain)
- It would be cool to see Commanding Shout be readded but not something to prioritize really.
- It would be really cool to see Mannoroth’s Bloodletting Manacles effect be added as a talent for Arms.
- Lastly I would like to see the return of a talent row where you can pick between axe spec, mace spec or sword spec. Again even though you can change between talents with a simple click now I still think it would be a really cool and fun talent to have. If nothing else you could make it a passive where one of the effects activates depending on what weapon you are wearing.
Those are just some of my suggestions to improving the Warrior class I would love to hear what other people think! : )
