I am looking at Warrior as a potential new main, but need some clarification before jumping into it. I’m mainly interested in BGs and “1v1 scenarios”, I’m not interested in Arena.
My impression so far is that “Warrior has little self sustain in PvP and ALWAYS needs a pocket healer babysitting them. Without a healer, you might as well not PvP”.
Low self-heal makes sense to its class fantasy, but I figure that it can’t be true that there exists a class like Warrior, which ONLY works with a healer in PvP. I see many people play Warrior, especially in PvP, so surely they aren’t as “useless” on it’s own as I get the impression…?
Of course I’m aware that you might as well just leave your PC and grab a cup of coffee whenever you encounter a decent Rogue or Druid in 1v1, but is Warrior really “THAT bad”? Do you HAVE to stick to a healer in BGs to do well?
For example, I currently play a Monk which feels amazing in PvP. I can out-damage, out-heal, and out-run other players. And while I do know that Warrior probably won’t be able to compete with that, it would be awesome to get some opinions on Warrior and if I do myself a complete disservice to switch to Warrior.
You shouldn’t lose as arms against a rogue if you have 35%+ versa and big hp. As fury you can lose to classes that cc/stun/disarm, but it’s not how people say it is. I actively survived as fury against 2-3 geared ppl for a whole minute or more, many times in bgs.
Also everything you said is based on old knowledge from Vanilla/TBC/etc.
Warrior has crazy healing and sustain on Fury, better then half the classes. In 9.1 it will be even better, Impending victory 25 sec cd for 40% healing !
The main problem is not healing or sustain, is being rooted by hibrids while they heal, run, prepare the next go. You cant control your character or do anyhing, you just sit there wihout someone taking care of dispells.
So yeah, you can’t really beat druids as warrior in the real sense. At most you can outheal their damage as fury, and outpressure them, and they will give up at some point. They can always escape if they want tho, and there is nothing you can do to stop them (Until Spear of Bastion leggo came out, that is. You can kill them that way)
Good choice for a Solo Player in PvP.
One of the biggest reasons I have been so conflicted about Warrior, has been because people kept telling me “Warrior doesn’t do well without a healer”. But whenever I have played Warrior I didn’t feel like I didn’t have good self-healing. With the Impending Victory talent + Ignore Pain, I always felt like I had incredible self-sustain.
But it makes absolutely sense when you say it isn’t because the self-healing is the issue, it’s the fact that classes with CC can just root you and heal themselves while you can’t move.
THAT I’m perfectly okay with “being the issue”, since it can be worked around. But had it been because the class was fundamentally bad at self-healing, then it would have been a issue that couldn’t get fixed with “skill”, and I would NEVER have picked Warrior as a main.
So I really appreciate that insight since it finally gave me a good answers to why I felt so conflicted about people who told me that “Warrior is not a good solo PvP class”, when I never really thought that seemed true when playing Warrior myself…
People are actually really misinformed then about Warrior hehe, and instead should have told me that “Warrior is bad against classes that can root you and then heal themselves through a heal spell”.
Since I wrote:
I have still secretly been leveling a Warrior on the side because I couldn’t let it go. And with this new “epiphany” about the ACTUAL reason why Warrior is considered “bad for solo PvP”, I feel like it’s an issue I can work around. I’ll have my Druid and Warrior as mains going forward.
Fury does have a PvP talent to break roots, so there is that also. But then again, 2v2 and 3v3 you will always play with a healer anyways, only Rogue Mage works as double dps pretty much, and in most bgs there will be at least 2 healers around. Play what you have fun with, the rest of the stuff doesn’t matter as much… it’s just details.
I also play a Outlaw Rogue PVP on the side, low geared, just bgs, having fun.
A lot of people will tell you outlaw is trash in pvp, but I am having tons of fun with it. Who cares?
Fury warrior has decent self-sufficiency, especially as venthyr. The combination of battle trance, bloodthirst/enraged healing, condemn dmg prevention and ignore pain makes you quite durable in small 1vX scenarios.
However if you wanna play a self-sufficient 1vX capable melee its probably better to go for a ret pala or enh sham.
Let’s not mystify things. I was talking about Arms, which is useless solo, yet the best of all with healer. Yes Fury is better solo, but I dislike it, because TG is profaned to the point you feel you swing not 2x 2handers, but 2 toothpicks. It should be slow big hits as it was on the beginning, not fast like rogue.
