I understand that class specialisations may not have any direct relation to roleplay but I like being immersed in my character lorewise when I play them. This in turn has prevented me from fully enjoying levelling my warrior, and thus its affecting my fun to a significant extent.
I want to level my warrior, but for immersion reasons I want to do it as a race that has decent lore justification for playing as all three specs, i.e, Arms, Fury and Protection. I was reading the lore and the forums and it seems that it is narrowed down to Dwarf vs Human.
It seems to me that Dwarves seem fit for playing a fury warrior on account of the mountain king, but Iām not sure how well they fit the arms warrior archetype, or the protection warrior archtype
Conversely, I feel humans seem to fit into the arms warrior archetype, and arguably the but I donāt know how much justification is there to play them as fury warriors (Although King Varian Wrynn comes to mind)
This raises the question, which race and spec combination has more justification, is it:
a) Human Fury Warrior
b) Dwarven Arms Warrior/Protection Warrior.
I Would really appreciate answers/opinions because I really enjoy levelling my warrior but this nagging doubt in my mind is stopping me from fully enjoying this aspect of the game.
I was not 100% sure which forum to post this question in (I assumed it would be the lore forum), if it is in the wrong forum, then I request a moderator to please shift it to the correct form.
I would mention few great human NPcharacters who are listed as warriors there, such as Anduin Lothar, Daelin Proudmoore ( Boy king is a dumb scum ), Genn Greymane, Varian Wrynn.
You forgot to mention, that most of them are dead. Looks like they werenāt a good warriors after all.
Try gnoomes. Has anyone heard of a dead gnoome warriors? - Exactly.
Gnoome are so harsh and bloodthirsty, that they couldnāt even heal themselves till the events of cataclysm.
For me a proper warrior is an orc or human. Or whatever we can call āproperā here. Dwarves feel a but more elemental types, or use light and lean towards paladin behaviour. For me a dwarf does not feel very warrior alike. For some reason their clans and characters always make me think of taking care of elements or nature. Like the whole gryphon business for example. Dwarves have connection to those birds and this does not scream āwarriorā to me.
Other thing that nature connection and mountains make me think is hunters and mountaineers. Which is strengthened by original cinematic even more.
On alliance - besides humans I feel elves may fit the role of a warrior archetype. Because not all elves come across as nature or āmagicā wielding. For example most of my warriors are night elves because of the very āin characterā feel.
Gnomes - while tinkerers are not coming across magic wielders either and they are often portrayed like engineering/tinkerer warrior-types.
Worgen are curious lot. They fit the part, but the weapons make them always feel off. if we only could have invisible weapons and use their paws instead.
Ironforge Dwarves are actually a really solid choice for a Warrior. Almost all of their notable characters in Wow are either Warriors or Hunters, including the vast majority of their Kings.
In terms of Dwarven Arms Warriors, the most notable one I can think of is Thargas Anvilmar. You wouldnāt know it from his in-game appearance but, as well as being depicted as an Arms warrior, heās the rightful King of all Dwarves. Or rather, the person with the best claim to be.
Thereās also loads of examples wandering around Ironforge if youāre looking for Protection Warriors - Ironforge Guards all wear single-handed weapons and shields. A named example would be Shilah Slabchisel, a questgiver in the Wetlands, who even rewards you with a shield bearing the coat of arms of Ironforge.
This seems kinda back to front. Dwarves only have Light wielding classes like Paladins because it was introduced to them by Humans in the first place. There are very few important Dwarven characters who are shown to be Paladins, whereas there are a truly massive number of Human Paladins.
Similarly, Ironforge Dwarves donāt have any real connection to Shamanism. It was the Wildhammer which discovered Shamanism after their exile during the War of the Three Hammers, and later introduced it to the larger Dwarven culture during Cataclysm. The connection with Gryphons is also a Wildhammer thing.
To be honest, the only class which fits Dwarves more than Warrior is Hunter, and even then itās not by much. Ironforge has a very militaristic and rather secular culture. Magic, including Shamanism, Nature and Light, isnāt really their thing.
Oh wow, that post ended up being way longer than I intended it to be.
Sir Anduin Lothar , the Lion of Azeroth. He is considered one of the greatest warriors of all time. if your unfamiliar with the lore the broken sword turalyon wields used to be his
Every race can use the warrior-class, therefore there is no real indicator which is suited best. Lore-wise almost every brawler can be accounted for as a warrior to some degree as well. You should go more for character-fantasies instead specific races.
Do you want your LotR-styled Gimli or Legolas? Then go for a dwarf warrior or belf hunter. Most of the time we let us inspire by official lore characters or the hearthstone artworks but in the end almost all available classes for each race suit them.
My personal favorites for warriors fantasies are:
Magna Ironforge Defender (Protector Dwarf, Heritage Armor)
Standard Human Warrior (in either the Arathi Warfront or SW-armor set).
Huojin Pandaren (Legion Warrior Class set, Shado-Pan Replica, Horde-flag on the back)
Warbrave Tauren (Heritage Armor)
Draenei donāt fit the bill to some degree because the most iconic transmog sets are Paladin-locked. Gnomes are more a fun experiment and rather suited for magic-based classes. Some made the warrior Kul Tiran look like ultimate units here on AD but I believe that the male design is more suited for a pirate theme with the heritage armor but thatās of course subjective.
So, what DO Bronzebeard-dwarves then use as flying mounts? Their copters?
I think so? Thatās what we mainly see them using at least. That and those awesome planes (Which for some reason we still donāt have a mount version of ).
Itād make sense if they mainly used flying machines, since they have that big airfield out one of Ironforgeās back doors.
A. Theyāre badass.
B. Theyāre angry beasts, and their resource is Rage.
C. Itās at least halfway believable that a werewolf creature would be able to jump far (Heroic Leap).
Male worgen works best as warriors, dks (because of their uniqueness in the lore to revive a worgen) and of course rogues. Female, however, can I only imagine as mages for some stupid reasons.
Warrior is the most basic class and there is no society imaginable where they donāt fit in somehow. Also the 3 speccs are not cultural afflicted as well. So every race is in every specc imaginable.
