I'm currently playing a lot of arenas daily to increase my rating for this season. At first I started by playing Arms and went to about 1690, went pretty smooth as I was with a Rsham that had over 2.4k xp and he sorta carried me.
I then went into Fury spec for PvE and decided to try in PvP, mainly arenas. Seems to be working fairly well, not as reliable as an Arms but still fun and can put quite some pressure.
I now found a Hpal with same rating as me and we are playing arenas together to progress and climb back, have some ups and downs.
My question is, what spec is better to actually get serious and push rating to 1800 and higher. I don't have any experience past 1800 since all the warrior BFA changes, so at my current elo both seem viable where Fury is more fun and has a burst, and Arms is more reliable and consistent.
I'm pretty set on talents for both specs and play style as I have been a Warrior main since Vanilla, so its mostly about what spec will more likely get me to the higher ratings once meeting experienced opponents?
Thanks for your answer
Both are viable to 2k no problem.
I would play what you prefer and are enjoy more. I am playing fury on my alt warrior and love it.
I would think that fury is a huge competitor on the 2s ladder. 3s I would go arms. There are also some changes to 8.1 where arms are getting a slight nerf but some longer durations on some abilities. IDK how it will effect arms .

I agree, Arms has always been a more competitive spec in terms of damage and reliability, especially on single targets. As of now I think Fury has more utility if for example you spec into Dragon's Roar for an AoE slow and damage, always useful. And because of the lack of mobility in the warrior (limited to 2 spells unless you spec Double Time), the fact that bloodthirsty removes slows and snares on such a low cooldown is really helpful to prevent from being kited, not to mention the increased self-healing. I guess it compensates for no big Defensive CDs
I think I'm gonna stick to Fury for now as it seems to work pretty well with the Hpal, but will definitely look into going Arms for higher rating groups due to its competitive nature or I get into 3s due to more intense AoE cleaves.
Even though I love both classes because they have unique traits, I think in a general perspective Fury is more enjoyable and feels less slow or "boring", I hate moments where you need to wait for Rage regen as Arms and either throw out a couple of slams, or auto attack enough to regen. But thanks for the response!
I dont know. I myself on this side of the world, i am having a very hard time getting past the 1200-1400 cr bracket. no mater what healer or rank i play 2's or 3's
its just too hard to manage with a massive influx of just mages, rogues and DH.
I gave up on arms after the nerf with Defense stance. Switched over to fury and that is a lot more fun and makes it easy on my healer with the soft self healing a little.
still not getting far cause of how much stronger other classes are. and with fire mages stepping into the field with the 1-2 shot combos and smoke bomb. i feel so demoralized
and yes. fire mages are O.P unless i am missing something. https://clips.twitch.tv/IncredulousFastSpaghettiBleedPurple

but i guess with the right healer and a dedicated partner. you can make it.
Fury is good especially with holy pala who can sacrifice two times on you if you going down. The only problem is the lack of healing reduction but in damage you can do alot in fury spec

Agreed, I play with a Holy Pal myself as Fury and we've pushed pretty smoothly up to 1630. Now it gets a bit more difficult but the synergy works well.

Its true, but as a Fury Warrior it all comes down to how you use your spells efficiently and changing your talents according to the comps. If it's in 3v3 and you have a Fire Mage, Rogue and Priest, prioritize your PvP talent into Spell Reflect to counter the Mage's burst opening. In 2v2's if a rogue is present switch that for Disarm and know when to use it (i.e when he's bursting you or putting a lot of pressure on your healer to give time).
When you have teams that seem impossible, play close to your healer and as safe as possible. Engage first but never use your charge at the beginning, if you're fighting a Mage or a Druid healer (or anyone with mobility) keep your charge for when they use movement abilities.
I play Arms/MW exclusivly i would say its a decent comp. You can beat pretty much everything with that comp, mages might be tricky but everything else is certainly doable.
Rogue/Priest you will met a lot, your healer need to be good to win vs this, make sure you peel during Kidney shots on your healer, save Disarm/Duel for when he stuns.
Good luck!

I’ve been having tons of fun as fury! For dueling and world pvp it’s awesome compared to arms because you can heal yourself while still doing good damage, the rotation is way more fluid especially when you get to 15% haste, and for 2v2s I prefer it over arms because you can get out of roots/slows with bloodthirst and dont rely as much on a healer to survive, and therefore opens up the gate for double dps (fury/enha is super fun). Plus the aoe slow is very convenient! I’ve been playing some 2s with random partners and got 1600 while not really trying with non-ideal gear. However for 3v3 (I only played with randoms) I’ve seen most top players pick arms over fury, most likely because of the healing debuff and consistant damage. Plus the slam damage azerite trait is nuts and can hit for 25k+ in arenas
