I’m a new Warrior and am still learning the class. Atm I play Fury.
One thing I can’t seem to understand is survivability. We have 1 defensive CD, Bloodlust, and a spell that procs after we kill an opponent that heals us.
But how is this supposed to work in 1v1 or PvP?
In comparison to so many other classes, we feel more like a “team” class that HAS to have a healer supporting us to win ANY fight in 1v1.
How do we defend ourselves? Pound the other guy hoping he doesn’t heal faster than us? Because he will…
Sure we have a stun, disarm, you know a few of those CC type spells, but everyone else have those too.
Some Warriors are running concentrated flame for the self heal. Then there’s double time (x2 charges) and furious charge (250% increased healing from bloodthirst after a charge). With those you’ve already got a pretty solid amount of healing.
If you didn’t want to go with double time you could see how you fair with impending victory. This is essentially victory rush every 30 seconds without having to kill anything, and it gets reset when a target dies.
Then you have enraged regeneration, which not only gives 30% DR but increases Bloodthirst healing by a further 20%.
Fury is not short on heals my friend.
“Concentrated flame” though isn’t really a Warrior specific heal solution in my opinion, because every other class can choose it too. But thanks for that tip.
I have one more question. When warriors get “enraged”, do they still take increased damage like they did in Legion?
Because that would mean that the “Furious Charge” talent is just a trade off to “Warpaint” which decreases our damage taken… So it doesn’t really “give” us more healing, it just focuses on healing over better defence.
Fury has pretty good self-healing:
Bloodthirst: +5% of maximum hp
Enraged Regeneration: -30% dmg taken + Bloodthirst heals you for 25% of your hp
Cold Steel Hot Blood (Azerite Trait): Very good leech
You can select some talents aswell for more healing. Etc.
Furious Charge: When you charge your next bloodthirst heals for 250% more
Hmmm… okay so here is what I think so far of Fury.
While using the tips from everyone here, and using the heal based spells on CD, I still feel like I have to fight much harder to stay alive than most other classes I have played.
Maybe I feel that it is a struggle because Fury has A LOT of times where we self-heal using Bloodthirst, which we need to constantly manage every 4 sec to not die super fast.
Bloodthirst kinda makes healing more “sustained” than “on demand”, which is very different from my Unholy DK that I have mained for a long time.
Maybe I feel Fury has worse self healing because of it’s healing being part of it’s basic rotation, instead of having a “heal on demand” spell. It makes those “oh crap I’m dying” moments harder to survive…
Just to compare the two to put this in perspective.
Unholy:
I can spam heal if needed almost at any time
Has 2 CDs that either insta heals, or helps heal if in a tight spot
Has 2 CDs that reduce incoming damage
Fury:
Bloodthirst that heals 5% of max health (has a 4 sec CD)
Has 1 CD that increases our Bloodthirst healing to 25% of max health and reduce dmg taken
Has 1 CD that increases our health by 15%
Dunno about everyone else, but when comparing with Unholy it seems Fury has less self-sustainability. As well as the fact that Unholy’s heal is spam-able much of the time.
I see your point. But by looking at the amount of heals Fury have “on paper”, it falls behind Unholy (and not to mention Pally).
“Why don’t you just go back to Unholy if you are so unhappy with Fury!”
I’m not trying to criticise Fury.
I really want to play this spec/class, but to do that I need to figure out why I feel so vulnerable playing it.
I see that youre not 120 yet so azerite traits is kinda meh atm.
But if you get x3 Cold Steel Hot Blood, Not only will this make your Bloodthirst a top priority to cast. It will also heal you A LOT if youre lucky with crit in cleave situations:
This is how much dmg/leech you get per trait:
(430 ilvl piece)
1x trait: 6762 Health over 6s
2x traits: ~8k Health over 6s
3x traits: ~12k Health over 6s
So lets say you have 3x of them. Youre in a dungeon with maybe 5 trash mobs in a pull. You get the proc on everyone, (very lucky) Thats:
12k/6 = 2k
2k * 5 = 10k hps + 10k dps
So 10k hps from just the azerite trait, then the Bloodthirst. I would assume you have around ~300k hp here
300k / 20 = 15k
15k / 4 = 3.7k hps
So in total 13.7k HPS. Should be fine nice if you ask me
(Again the trait is heavely dependant on crit which makes it kinda a chance based with more crit = higher chance, This is if youre super lucky)
Edit: But yes I agree with you that fury is bad with healing when needed if Enraged Regeneration is on CD
if u are about to pvp dont forget the pvp talent battle trance that heals for 3%hp generate 5 rage every 3 seconds for 18 secs after using 2 raging blows on same target I agree with u that self heal is rotational but for 1v1 situations is pretty stronk Fury has maybe the best combat self heal at pvp but it can be countered
Pick all of this and you’re not dying any time soon. I need to have at least 2-3 dps on me, depending on their ability to CC, before I start to lose health.
Furious Charge or Warpaint depending on the content
Battle Trance (PvP talent)
I use Bloodlust on CD of cause and in combo with Furious Charge.
And I have reached 120 and gotten my hands on azerite gear that all have “Cold Steel, Hot Blood” chosen in them.
My healing seems to have much improved. I still need play more before I can definitively tell, but so far self-sustain feels good.
Now I just gotta remind myself that Fury is more of a “sustained” healer in comparison to playing Unholy DK or Ret Pally.
I am grateful for peoples willingness to help me Hopefully this thread serves to help others too.
UPDATE:
Having played more with Fury I can say that I have no more issues staying alive. I think the azerite traits were the solution.
Usually I hate when a class needs to be “fixed” through azerite traits because it require grinding and luck, but in this case here it could be done easily through the nazjatar vendor gear.
If u are about to stack cold steel hot blood which i highly recommend for both dmg and healing i suggest the follow: The secondary stats u gonna need from highest are crit mastery haste versa All gems and ring enchants are critical weapon ench deadly navigation and masterful navigation also try to get azerite traits that increase your crit chance like swirling sands blightborne infusion infinite fury ( all these traits increase your crit chance try to get trinket from waycrest manor or trinket from darkshore boss (both increase your crit chance at least 1 crit mastery ring from temple of sethralis or siege of boralus Otherwise i u dont like to even have this trait run haste mastery
Edit: as for essences u can get at major blood of the enemy or memory of lucid dreams at major personally i like it cause it works like second recle and blood of the enemy as minor i forgot to mention that the wound procs from trait can be spread to multiple targets via whirlwind and then a critical bloodthirst
actually fury selfhealing is great, if you’re good enough you can probably solo any class excluding demon hunter (just because he has everything which you have but better) and paladins, even blood dk is possible to kill if you’re fury 2head. From talents - always take Storm Bolt, Warpaint and Furious Charge - both are okay, but warpaint is almost 90% uptime 10% dmg reduction which is sweet. Just keep spaming BT, EG when it’s really bad, also pvp talents are very important. One named ‘blabla salugter’ increases your healing if <50% - it’s nice in duels and wpvp, other ‘battle trance’ or smth like that makes you healing a little of your hp (and generating rage btw) per 3s, you just start duel with 2xRB and maintain it. For last talent I reccomend that one which dispell slows when using BT (you’re spamming it anyway). Congratulations, you can kill every1.
edit:
CSHB is shlt in PVP, it scales with crit which sucks in PvP because bonus damage is 150% instead of 200% (pve). If you want to play pvp aim haste and versa - versa give you even more dmg reduction and I’m not sure, but maybe increase your healing taken.
