Warrior tank and shadowland questions

Hello!

I would like to ask if it is possible to build a tank from an arms warrior, or use a two hander as a protection warrior? I really want a warrior and not a blood DK. I see as an arms I still have taunt skills, so the question is given: can I be a two hander user tank as a warrior anyhow?

Second question is, what if I use tank gear as a DPS arms warrior to maximize my survivability? Is it acceptable for PVE and/or PVP?

Third question is about shadowlands. I watched videos about the covenants, and I would like to ask that if I choose a covenant like Kyrian, does that mean in the majority of my gametime I will spend time questing on their territory, which is light, open fields? Same for Venthyr with those gothic landscapes, if I choose them I will play mostly on their territory?

No, it is not possible to tank as Arms. Yes, you have Taunt, and in dungeons (not raids) that you MASSIVELY overgear you probably could get away with it.

However, Prot gets a 4X threat increase from damage. Arms could not possibly hold threat against a group doing a similar level of damage. Prot also gets mitigation with Ignore Pain, which reduces incoming damage by 50%, Shield Block, Shield Wall. Vanguard, a passive increasing armour, a lot more self-heals with Impending Victory/Victory Rush, and other spec-specific talents, all of which are important, but it’s the threat that makes it actually impossible for Arms to hold threat in an AoE situation. Arms and Fury are actually quite squishy at the moment until they get really high gear.

I’m not even sure that “tank gear” means anything anymore. Trinks and Shield, I suppose; everything else is just about stat choices.

Nobody really knows how world content will shake out in Shadowlands, because they didn’t get into enough of it on the Beta. It seems that everyone will have to spend some time in The Maw. Covenant Callings - the equivalent to Emissaries - can be done in fifferent ways, including dungeons. Some of them do send you to help out other Covenants, but I suppose it’s reasonable to assume you would see more action in your own Covenant.

Thank you very much!

Is there any item, even old one with very bad stats, but one that gives the wearer percentage based threat increase? In other games there are some old junk that used for this purpose exactly, like a ring with very small stats and item level but that gives for example 2x threat for the wearer.

No.

Blizzard is making a big deal of disalliowing the use of old items and enchants and consumables above their original level in Shadowlands. For example, this Draenor enchant, which only has +2% anyway, cannot be used on items above level 50

Well, in that case I guess I’ll be a dps and keep hoping that one day Blizz make it possible for warrior to tank with two handed weapons.

You cold try a monk or DK if you want to 2H tank.
