Leveled my warrior to 40 but have come to regret it. Most classes two-shot us while we can’t even attack (no rage) or do measly ~250 hits. Wizard damage is ridiculous across the board (crits above 1000, dots ticking for 250+/sec). Armor doesn’t matter at all. Our damage inside the raid is only good due to several buffs from other classes.
EDIT: I just got hit by a shaman’s searing totem for 200. A searing totem is almost hitting as hard as a mortal strike.
Ah yes, so the class that is the worst also has the highest skill ceiling.
Tell me again how this is a good thing?
Why should warriors have to work the hardest to achieve the least?
Most of the problems warriors suffer from are not skill issue based.
They are mathematically worse in pvp and tanking, while mediocre in dps.
Who does not want to sweat while playing in order to keep up with other classes that can mash 2 buttons and do better than you.
Skill only matters when everyone is on a leveled playing field.
My warrior has 8% crit chance with the 2h mace equipped. The proc rarely happens.
You are much better playing axe spec for the extra crit. If we were decked out in level 60 epics, it would be a different story, but most people have SM gear and some piece from raid.
Mace spec is in no way viable = the STV reward is utter garbage.
Now that i’ve done stv for a week on my warr on top of playing starting with warr phase1 first thing i would change is baseline 20 rage when stance swapping.
This whole gatekeeping for some specs -including fury- waiting for next phase to have enough talents points for essential talents is kind of taking it’s toll on my nerves.
Sure one can go fury with warbringer and never leave berserker stance, you forget you have overpower and disarm, peel with piercing howl and 3min cd fear, get the perks from fury but still kinda meh.
Lets break it down why these are useless in BGs (and 1v1 is not BG and WPVP is not BG, and WPVP does not give reputation, forget about 1v1 and WPVP in SoD!)
Shadowstep - has global cooldown, I can’t jump someone on a mount and stun/attack it, he will get out of range by the time GCD ends. There is also high chance, that if I do shadowstep, enemy will hear the stealth noise and ruins the opening. exposing me to multiple people. Useful to catch a running target when out of stealth or in stealth and is not mounted, not usable in stealth against mages because then they can blink.
Shiv - no use in group fight, replaces a strong ability: mutilate
Envenom - there is no time to build up poison stacks for envenom to be useful in pvp. If you combine it with shiv, usefulness is same as one rune: mutilate (dmg output)
Quick draw - not bad, but deadly brew is better, so you can use shadow oil on weapon is much better in my experience, because you get instant poison, deadly poison + shadow bolt on attack.
Shadowstrike, another weak ability for BG or in world… replaces mutilate… Does 150% weapon damage without bonus damage, usable only from stealth… so removes ability to ambush or cheapshot… vs mutitalte that deals 2x 100% weapon damage + 2x 48 dmg + 20% (if poisoned target)
waylay is kind of cool and can be useful depending on play style, however i think master of subletly is much more useful for rogues that try to nuke from stealth with mutilate or ambush.
Most people who complain about rogues are undergeared or wrongly geared. I can see this when I am in bg because, for example druid:
a) I attack a druid and kill him in 3 mutilates and one between the eyes
b) I attack a druid and deal him max 1k dmg with same routine as a) and he feiry fires me, goes to bear and just mangles me to death.
Same with mages, there are mages I can two-shot, and there are mages that kite me to death because they got more than 1 brain cell and know how rogues will rotate abilities.
In multiple instances I opened on mage with cheap shot, should give 4 sec stun right? In one second he blinked, I am like, WHAT? I shadowstep on him, then he frost-nova, living flame, living bomb, I cannot use vanish because DoTs ticking so fast, so I between eyes with my 2 combo points, but he is so far away, I cannot get to him, shadowstep already on CD. Just to be safe he casts poly. Now he bought enough time so he has no CD on blink when I shadowstep on him again.
By the time, someone from enemy team shows up and mage wins.
Ofc, this is preventable every 5 mins when I am off cooldowns, what about the remaining 4 minutes and 59 seconds? Whats the cooldown of spell mage just used in the above fight? 35 seconds and less? How much spell dmg did he to me, and how much did i do to him?
If I use different runes, I might be able to catch the mage, but what if there are durable classes in the BG? I will lack dps in already lost fight becuase of spell nukers.
So in the end, rogues play max nuke builds, to be able to deal some dmg before they get spellnuked to death, resulting in “you kill one of theirs, and they kill you” match continues on even terms, making it having no impact on the fight.
Mages, bdruids, srpiest, shamans, paladins, can heal, dispel, deal damage, buff,… and are so much more useful in any group content!
Even warrior is more useful with his buff and fear! Because fear disables people and its much more fight deciding factor than a rogue rolling a dice to see if all crits then he kills someone.
When a warrior charges in and fears 5 people, then it give the team chance to kill few people, disorganize them, force trinket cooldown. Yes warrior will probably die, but the fight is most probably won!
EDIT: Also, Lightning Shield hitting me for 175 non-crit (don’t know if it can crit). Shamans are playing another game right now. Two seasons ahead of others.
Tried BG since a few weeks again I am a fan of PVP but SOD makes me hate PVP. At this point it just feels like a crinchy PTR where a few FOTM lovers just bash the terrible classes, it’s sad.
The whole warriors scales with gear thing? Well in SOD it turns out any class scales fine with gear if they are overtuned
Playing SOD PVP feels like a fresh max level warrior that is the most horrid thing to play but no matter what gear you get it just gets worse and worse because the other classes also get gear
Charge while slowed ye fine in era big problem in SOD
10% dmg taken on serk stance big problem in SOD
30 min CDs big problem in SOD
Everytime I die and open my combat log my warrior cries. I can imagine retadin is sorta in a similar spot although freedom and bubble are more useful than charge with warbringer I assume.
Warrior is hella fun with all the stuff we got and damage from our own stand point feels fine, UNTIL you measure it up against any of the other classes and it’s a massive joke. I was full BIS BFD and got some gnomer stuff + the 2H axe so that shouldn’t be the issue.
Even with pocket healers the damage simply cannot be healed and with how hard it is to connect, control the target, get rage and actually have 2-3 globals to even pump damage warrior is in the worst state it’s ever been for any class in PVP ever.
What is the point? I gear in PVE cuz PVP gear is pointless but to what end? To just be bullied around?
Then maybe you choose poor fight, idk, but I am constantly charged by ally warriors and then parry half of my attacks until his teammates spam aoe then he executes then types /lol and sits on my face.
Mace spec in TBC was good because Stormherald had a 4 second stun, combined with the stun from mace spec and charge/intercept stun you could stunlock people if the RNG went your way.
WOTLK Mace spec had armour penetration on it, in either case, your comparison isn’t valid.
