I really don’t understand the appeal of playing HC in classic. I mean when you die you start all over again and do the same mindnumbing boring quests again and again. Classic is already boring with auto attack combat, tedious quests and leveling, add HC on top of it and it becomes something of an abomination that I don’t want anything to be a part of. Also all the Classic HC streamers are blind retail haters and when asked why they don’t like retail they can’t seem to give any reason. People stuck in the past seems to live a sad life.
Its just how some people have decided to challenge themselves. For them it has added a new challenge to a game they enjoy.
There seems to be a fair support for it, that it is even speculated that Blizzard might be working on something behind the scenes.
But if you’re not into it, just don’t get involved.
See there’s the problem, now Blizzard is trying to get involved with this boring HC nonsense. Instead of giving us new dungeons, zones and raids now we are getting HC realms. I mean whats the point of playing like this? This is just torture, die then start again. Who in their right mind play the game like this?
All the streamers that you’ve been watching doing it.
Infact I know a few players who have considered doing 0-2500 challenges.
I guess if there is a demand for it, and it doesn’t disrupt the overall game, then the more options the better.
Then why are you watching them?
You mean besides the new zone we got in 10.0.7 and the zone coming next month in 10.1 same with new raid?
There’s a retail dev team.
There’s a classic dev team.
They are not mutually exclusive.
Then don’t do it?
Let others play the way they want to and you play the way you want to.
Damn I thought you were dicking around with hardcore WoW but it actually is a thing.
Games main purpose is to bring fun for someone who is playing. If they find it fun to autoattack 90% of times and re-do all the grind after death - good for them, and we shouldn’t judge them. Everyone has their way of playing and it’s subjective what is fun.
For me - I like creating new alts and just level through low level zones. For end game I usually only have 1, max 2 characters, but for low levels - I have more than I would like to admit. But as long as I am having fun - I don’t see a problem
And I agree - neither side should trash talk about other version of the game. I play both wrath classic and retail, and I find both of them fun in their own unique ways.
Yet Classic HC somehow gets more views than whatever dumb trash eSpoRT is going on. Where players compete for a McDonalds gift card or whatever.
At the end of the day this hopefully shows Blizzard what a complete failure their eSpoRts direction of WoW has been. How often has HC twitch streaming been in the top 5 of WoW recently? Often as the most viewed stream, or having 3 or 4 out of the top 5 spots. The most viewed stream right now, as of writing this is a HC stream with over 4k views. The third most viewed? Yep, you guessed it, also HC. So two of the top 3 spots are HC.
When Asmongold would do some mount competition or transmog comp, he would get 50-80 000 views. What do the turbo nerd WoW streamers get? Nothing, because competitive gameplay in an MMORPG is a complete failure.
Do I enjoy watching HC WoW? No, like you OP I would never spend a second watching this. But why are these streams of a 20 year old game more popular than tryharding retail M+ with the worst Swedish techno music in the background? It should cause some introspection amongst Blizzard and the WoW community, but of course, it won´t.
Remember, Vanilla and the first 1-2 expansions made WOW great. People want a new way to play their favourite game. When you are playing hardcore, you plan every fight and not attack everything that moves. And maybe this is the wrong section for your topic. Move it with the pencil next to its title.
And right now AWC is #1 viewed channel beating Guzu by 2k viewers.
Does this mean they should not invest into HC realms and just make a bunch of esport realms?
Somehow? We all know why most people are there. Same reason people gather to look at some guy perched up on some high building threatening to jump.
Its because in classic hardcore everyone is VERY invested in his character. So everything ingame will feel more awesome and alive. Every interaction, every zone, every copper, every player, every npc, every everything matters. Because people are very focused and invested in their characters. Its a cool adventure.
simply if u dont like it than dont play … there are ppl who like that and that is it
I think the punishments in Hardcore are too steep and I think the levelling isn’t hard enough. People are just trying to create a levelling experience that pushes back with some challenge and this is what they could come up with. They can’t alter the world.
I hope Blizzard can figure out something other than hardcore. I mean they can already do hardcore with the add on.
It’s going to be interesting. I think there’s a real hunger for better levelling in the WoW community. Something with some teeth to it.
I played classic HC this week. Was very fun
My only real answer to this is that is what these players are signing up for. It’s what they want. So they don’t mind.
Yeh, I think it’s got to be something different and it’s got to be suitable for everyone who wants a more difficult experience. If Blizz buys into it, it needs to be for the wider audience. Those hardcore guys can still have their hardcore communities
I definitely think making a more difficult levelling experience would be great. I’m not sure about the 1 life characters. But we’ll see what they come up with.
people enjoy immersion in rpg’s something retail has lost long ago. And the dislike retail because it substituted said immersion with a fast-paced action oriented gameplay.
I hope this clears up at least partly why some people enjoy something you don’t.
Oh for sure. I’m just talking about what I’d like to see in a scenario where people who actually control the content does something. I think there’s no point making hardcore because the community already did it and it works fine.
