My frost mage has a spell icy veins which summons a water elementaL. it shows up but does nothing. It supposed to fire at youre target and it did in the past. How can i get it working again. I removed addonns did not help.
Like all pets the elemental may be set to assist, be defensive or be passive. Make sure it’s not set to passive as that would prevent it from doing anything. Check the pet action bar, or the spellbook while the elemental is out if it’s missing.
I cant set any on the water elemental its not in the spell book, it comes with icy veins and when icy veuins cast it i cant seem to set it on assist…
You could use this macro:
/cast Icy Veins
/petattack
Personally, I only use Icy Veins with Frozen Orb, so I use the following macro:
/cast Frozen Orb
/cast Icy Veins
You could just add the line /petattack and hopefully that should work.
I don’t use the Concentrated Cooleness talent anymore but if you do, you can use the following macro to make it quicker:
/cast [@cursor] Frozen Orb
/cast Icy Veins
In case you didn’t know, the @cursor line makes it drop an orb wherever your cursor is positioned, saving you a bit of time as you don’t have to click to drop it after casting. Again, you could add /petattack to the end of it and hopefully, that should work.
Right click the spell till it ‘glow’ or ‘spark’ or whatever you wanna call it.
Yeah so in case it’s not clear, he’s saying that when your elemental appears after casting Icy Veins, the pet action bar should also appear. One of the abilities on the bar causes it to keep attacking your current target. I think it might be called ‘Assist’ but not 100% sure. Anyway, right-clicking it should then cause it to be activated and it will glow to indicate this. This is another way of solving the problem, in addition to the macro route I posted earlier.
Has your UI hidden your pet action bar? If you don’t see the bar click on edit mode to sort it out. If you see the action bar set the pet to assist.
