Tbh when levelling slow (occasionally like to run Pandaria) I will set myself a zone level cap, and go freeze XP when I hit it - then finish the quests there before unlocking XP for the next area.
It takes a bit of micromanaging and self restraint, but the effect is broadly the same as levelling slower.
They should give the option to disable scaling altogther and reinstate zonal levels like how it use to be together with the original xp gains. Seems like players want the old levelling system. Simple just revert each and every expansion to their original status and give us the real game back and chuck Chromie and scaling and heirlooms in the dumpster.
Scaling destroyed this game. It was intruduced to please the bored endgamers wanting to enjoy old content without forfeiting any of their kit. Sadly that meant lower level players were harnassed into the same junk system and zones no longer made any sense what so ever. The game is now busted and is crippled by a system that pleases only experienced players with little thought to new players wanting to experience the full game.
Eventually classic will find its home back with retail and all the expansions will be rebooted to their original design. The new scaling formats are a joke and results in content being gobbled up faster than a hoover on heat. So we have a game populated with older players crying out each day to make the original expansions harder again. My heart weeps. Same folk that wanted scaling in the first place.
Hopefully one day I can get my Warcraft back. A Warcraft where actual progression is an essential part of every aspect of the game. Scaling is not progression, it is just a very easy way to emulate difficulty. Fake Warcraft.
Not relevant; itâs not a setting, itâs just a decision. Say I hit level 25 in Jade Forest - that was my target, so I fly back to the main city, talk to the experience eliminator NPC, and put XP on pause.
When I finish that area, I unlock XP, and decide how high I want this zone to get me.
This is probably why you donât understand what the OP is looking for. What he/she cares for doesnât matter to you. I am similar to OP when it comes to leveling, so have no issues seeing that your suggestions donât quite cut it. Thanks for making them though!
The problem is, they also did a level squish too. So unless they set the needed EXP so high, that you would need to quest through the whole add-on for meagerly 6-8 Levels it does not really work. Better would you give us the option to have every add-on having designated zones for 1-60 like for example Kul Tiras/Zandalar needing you to spend 20 level in each zone while Legion only 10 so you could overlevel zones or go with level scaling if this is your thing.
Because I think the real reason people want slower leveling or old leve zones back with this system is because this time happens exactly that what the developers feared.
As the enemy get stronger with each level but your gear reward is based on your actual level you do have the problematic feeling of getting weaker with each level up unless you go for heritage armor with whom you even then feel only staying same on power level.
But if you get less exp in this system you could take more time per level to get your gear on up to date before it is weak again.
Sadly there is no real right or wrong answer except using Classic to give us every add-on and if people feel like one Expansion is favourable for them to level up then they can start in the Classic, WotLK, MoP, Legion etc time.
Also when you go past certain level brackets, a lot of dungeons no longer are available, at least last I checked.
I actually do find the older dungeons fun, itâs just nice to have a flow of leveling that keeps you out in the world and yes that feels more like the old times.
Again for this to be only a optional toggle and no changes to the base rate.
