Ways to get water elemental back in the action

So as a player that enjoys playing pet classes/specs it’s kind of sad that the frost mages of today don’t even use water elemental anymore. And while I know that there is a bigger chance of demonology becoming an S tier rank 1 pvp spec over Blizzard ever reading the EU mage forums then that shouldn’t stop us from talking about problems.

Anyways the following are the ideas that I had:

  1. Buffing Bone Chilling. Obviously the easiest but also one of the most dangerous ones. Simply you get more spell damage from the talent, you do more damage and you are rewarded for it by getting to have your pet out. However getting the balance right would be crucial else you swing the pendulum way too much the other way and we’re right back in the glacial spike era.

  2. Giving the water elemental water bolt a small chance to proc fingers of frost and/or brain freeze. Basically you have the pet out and you get slightly more procs. Would also speed up the gameplay a bit.

  3. Giving the water elemental an extra skill. Those that remember we used to have an extra ability on the water elemental. It was water jet I believe? Didn’t work out too well tbh but maybe if we gave it something else. Food for thought.

  4. Going back to warcraft 3 roots and making it a powerful damage cooldown. Personally I wouldn’t like this option because it would make it resemble the shaman elementals too much but considering that right now we have no elemental at all then this is also something that could be considered.

Regardless these are the things that I have been thinking about, if you have any other ideas or thoughts then do tell.

I still use the water elemental when playing a frost mage; though I have been playing arcane more since mid legion. The 45 yd freeze from it is awesome and feels wrong playing with out utilising it haha!
