My girlfriend experience motion sickness after playing for about half an hour, is there anyone that has any experience with this, and if so, any way to maybe fix it?
Hmm this could be caused by different things like FPS, motionblur (which WoW does not have) or field of view (or camera too close to the character maybe).
What is your average framerate? Or better, post the system specs plz.
What you can try is:
-
if she is playing with the camera zoomed in, try zooming out to the max (you can change the max distance in the options to zoom out even further, that’s how i play too).
-
try limiting the FPS to 60 or enabling vsync.
try limiting to 30 if you are running at 60 now
Untick the option for camera to wobble if you’re moving and on a mount.
Zooming out helps.
Try and match the game FPS to the framerate your monitor is at. If running 60hz then 60fps. 100hz and 100fps. V-snyc on will help with that.
And if your monitor/graphics card has it, make sure G-Sync, Veriable rate is turned on. Like freesync so display matches the FPS smoothly on displays.
thank you, for your replies, I will be trying them out soon enough, even though it might be a little bit on the “torture” side of testing D:
We still don’t know what hardware you are running on
Personally I can experience some of this when I have the camera zoomed in too close.
The scope of the gameworld combined with the 3rd person cameras Field of View can sometimes create a light motion sickness effect for me.
This has only become a problem as the scope and size of the world and things in it have changed over the years and the camera itself isnt really adapted so that all levels of zoom feels natural with all environments. You get the feeling you are tunnelvisioning and your mind needs to see more things around you compared to how the world is built.
I usually zoom out a bit, but not entirely, as I feel that instead disconnects me from the experience and the immersion.
Well if you are raiding you definately want to see as much as possible of what is going on around you
