We could use some new collectible achievements and a Achievement store

Currently us collectors could use new collectible Achievements to farm. We are way past the limit at the moment in what we have obtained. Many of us have already collected more than +500 mounts some even have over 700 mounts. It’s a thing we enjoy when we are playing wow so we could really use new Achievements for everything like collecting

  • 450-800 mounts collected
  • 1250-2000 unique battle pets obtained
  • 500-800 toys obtained
  • Collecting 50-100 tabards, 70 Heirloom pieces, 30-100 shirts, 150-700 gear pieces in every slot and 400-1200 back slot.
If we do get new Achievements for all then it would be a good idea to future proof it. So we have something to look forward to when we farm stuff. New reward for mount Achievements doesn’t have to be a unique mount just a recolor like always. There are so many nice colour variations of mounts that hasn’t been used yet in the game like the old Blue hippogryph, Stormcrow, Blue parrot and etc…

I think Wow could use an a Achievement store were we can buy collectible items like mounts, tmog sets and etc. Many of the Achievements are rather pointless to obtain except to show off your big numbers so i think it would be a good idea to implement that Achievement store. Prices could vary based on how lucrative they are like example mounts could cost 3k, tmog sets 1-2k but you get the set for all classes for that season, Battle pets 1k, Toys 1k, Tabards and Shirts 500 points. This could make a new evolution in farming Achievements for fun. Note you will still have your Achievement points even when spending on the store but the store will cut how many Achievement points you havve available to spend so you don’t loose the Achievement points you can see on your character.

Not even 800 mounts ingame atm

But you have to stop and think for a second “maybe I’ve just collected everything… “

It’s nice to have goal posts. But there’s no need to push the goal posts to the extremes.

I’ve played a lot over the past few years and I’m no where near the top level achievement’s in collecting en mass. It’s nice to know the end goals feel achievable, but still far enough away that it’ll take time for me to get.

Think of it like M+. 15 is the goal, anything above that is for the players bored enough to do it.

Isn’t collecting stuff for the sake of collecting stuff the goal? Why do you need more achievements for that?

Edit: I think if they do implement those achievements they should be Feats of Strength instead of normal achievements. They’re quite out of reach for most players.

You want a store where you can buy stuff with achievement points? Did I get that right?

Horrible idea.

Achievement points are one of the view things in the game that are still a reward that gives you nothing but prestige and it should stay this way.

Nobody should be forced to do Achievements! The game already pushes players to do stuff solely for a reward in too many other ways.
If you actually want the top gear / every mount / transmogg available you need to do PvP, Open World, M+ and Raids. And you want to add achievement hunting to that list? No thanks.
If anything, they should do the exact contrary: unite rewards from all those activities so one can do whatever one actually enjoys to get everything available in the game, so it’s FUN to play and not a chore to play.

I’m not saying achievements are bad and shouldn’t be expanded, I do agree with you that there should be more achievements: the devs should use them more often as a reward to offer challenges to players. Like with Mage Tower: there should be achievements and ways to do challenges with “wrong” specs, x gear pieces missing, repeated kills of the same boss etc. to give players some motivation to do the content more than once…

But nobody should be forced by achievements to do stuff they don’t like only to get cool rewards like moggs. Those should be easily available to everybody, since appearances are a core element of RP(G).

Dont quite understand the urge of adding a million of things like “collect 5000 mounts” and such. If anything this system needs a complete overhaul or an expansion window with only those listed for the expansion you are playing and the other thing becomes a fos or something…

“Done 3000 achievement points in shadowlands” moves to fos tab → new achievements available in next expansion. Dont know, but if I were to be a new player why would I even attempt any of those? They got milestones but realistically speaking a new player today will NEVER complete all of them.

I dont think there’re 2k unique pets currently. not there’re 800 mounts

they can add achi for each expansion like “collect 100 unique mounts in SL”
“collect 50 unique mounts in wotlk” etc with rewards for each

Something like that maybe yes. I don’t have a full idea either way. I just threw that out as I think that this whole system is new player unfriendly… and not just slightly.

tbh, i dont think this only applies to new players. i think the average player who has been playing for a long time wont complete them all because its just so many. in order to be 100% you must have played from the beginning until now and invest a huge amount of time to be always on top of it. i just dont think thats possible in general, or only for a very, very, few people.

and i think thats fine. i dont think that it needs an overhaul but i also dont think there needs to be more. imo the system is fine as is. tying achievements to expansions would only create fomo imo, which is bad, especially that quite a few people wait until an expansion is older so they can solo stuff.

i dont really see the issue with new players either tbh. you just pick something you want, start with mount or title rewards achievements and work towards them. you cant really expect a 17/18+ year old game to have little to no achievements and/or to achieve everything quickly.

696 mounts avaliable for collection. (taken from simple armory)

1466 battle pets that is still avaliable. (taken from warcraftpets)

682 toys in toy box that is still avaliable. (taken from ingame toy box)

Yeah that would definitely be the best way to handle it.
