Options… they are always nice to have.
Classic seems pretty busy and the character screen has come up with a Burning Crusade info panel… so that’s going to keep me very busy and can’t be far away now.
I think an option that actively degrades the overall game experiment is not an acceptable option. Whether it will be one is to be seen.
But currently I see tons of ways to exploit these followers. I will ask my friend who playes ESO actively about his opinion on this.
No as followers have their own gear.
I have played it since beta… it’s a good move. Opening up more options for players giving more choice is a good thing.
It’s my relax on the sofa console game… I’m getting too old so sit at my desk for hours and hours.
You never have, and you never will, speak for “the community”.
No one does. Never assume everyone wants the same thing.
And you’ll have guaranteed good expansions for the next 8 years.
My hype is real as I began my WoW journey in TBC. I will be 5 boxing it once again.
One of those features I have always wanted in WoW… and thought how companions worked we’d get it.
You can even run private servers with companions in dungeons.
It’s not to just play solo though, its for when my and my wife just want to play together or with friends/family without strangers when we can’t hit the numbers.
Bet I’d play more dungeons and even raids if they’d ever come up with a system like that. Doesn’t even have to be at the higher difficulties nor warrant high iLvL gear. Also a good way to learn encounters on your own which in turn has the potential to raise the skill of the players a bit before joining group content.
A lot more MMO’s have it these days. So why not, doubt it would affect the competitive players but you’ll see plenty of them against it anyway.
Name one besides FF. I’m actually curious whether the implemention of solo dungeons and raids actually increased the number of players that do those activities.
We had a small taste of it in the Exiles reach starter dungeon… so they could easily add it.
If you mean FF I don’t think it’s a significant factor. I’ve only done them to level up my companions. Otherwise the dungeons roulette(their name for LFD) is quite popular.
ESO, SWTOR, Why ask when you already could read about it in this thread?
Dunno of GW2 has gone through with it but there were talks about it.
I know I said a lot, the wrong choice of words (It’s not like there are a lot of AAA MMO’s to begin with). But you see these discussions more with MMO’s that are in development.
I can’t speak for others but it would probably get me to do dungeons again. We have lost the attitude of taking our time, in SL people were already skipping in dungeons in the first week. I only enjoy dungeons when I get the chance to learn them and feel confident with them before I do heroic.
Normal in SL being such a bad experience for me resulted in me not doing dungeons any more.
Yup that was another good example. Before I joined in in Legion I ran my own server (just for me) that came with a companion pack. Just to see if I’d enjoy it again. Few days of playing and it got me back in WoW after not having played since Cata. Worked brilliant in that, you could even do raids and such.
ESO does not have that system yet and the system in SWTOR is not exactly good. The companion AI (back when I played) was incomperable to a player. Also SWTOR launched with that system so it is impossible to judge whether this system had any impact on the game’s failure.
That’s not true. It was added in 3.0 I think. Still, it’s comparable to doing normal dungeons in wow.
To me it doesn’t matter if its good, as long as it works. Most companions in games will be a bit ‘janky’ and worse than playing with others. So I also don’t see it as doing away with grouping up with others.
As for ESO not having it yet… to me that is pointless. They’ll be having it.
Let’s be real, SWTOR was a ‘failure’ for other reasons.
I bought two copies at launch, we played it for a week and abandoned it. Can’t say I care much about it these days. It was just a very shallow game (mediocre if you treat it as a single-player RPG). I’m sure my love for Star Wars Galaxies made it harder on SWTOR.
I guess it doesn’t count that we were allowed and able to script our own bots in Star Wars Galaxies. They were pretty decent as companions. Not officially made by SOE though.
is ESO any good?? been thinking about it for a while now…
If you want good gameplay and progression, then it is not.
If you want a good story and a multiplayer Skyrim, then it is decent.
I’d say pretty decent overall. To me what never felt right was the combat. I could never recommend it to someone as I feel one has to play it themselves because of that.
Even with the combat feeling off, I did spend a few weeks in it but gave up since: between WoW, SWGemu and my games library there just wasn’t enough time to add another MMO to it.
Admittedly, i just got Neverwinter Nights on steam - just out of curiosity to see if it is same as the original Bioware version
