I think it is time to introduce at least 1 other class that can summon party members inside a raid or dungeon. Warlock isnt enough. raiding with a pug is very painful and most of the time a waiting game.
I suggest druid because i play druid or
mages because why not the familiar with magic
maybe shamans praying to the earthmother and zip you travel with the wind
or priest, paladin with the power of the holy light.
People can also just not be lazy and fly for 2 minutes, its not like classic where they put the dungeons & raids in narnia
That being said, if they ever were to introduce another class i’d say shammy would make the most sense tbh, priest and pally would be wierd, druid … maybe, would love it as a drood main
Replacing people in pug raids takes ages without a warlock. One reason flex raids in MoP were so popular was you could teleport in directly like in LFR.
Fact is traveling in WoW adds absolutely nothing to the game, especially when others are waiting for you.
do you know the boss fights like rashok or other stpuid bosses. when you invite them they need to walk 2min everytime. most of the time they first need to fly to this stupid cave which can take up to 10 min sometimes. you probably never raided in wow with random groups even with a guild group it the waiting game and then walking 2 min to the boss.
Better yet, add it as a consumable that you can buy from the vendors in the raid(or in the actual main city of the expansion), on use it creates a small meeting stone/beacon/whatever you wanna call it that you can use to summon party/raid members.
That makes sense. Just give them the option to create portal stones or something that can be used to fast travel or “pull” someone over to your position in the world (basically just a summon consumable), but only usable by mages.
this doesn’t make sense at all
Oh, I disagree. Because without traveling the world would be EVEN MORE emptier than already with the sharding. With fast traveling like summons as default you would instantly go from point A to point B without anyone else than your group seeing you.
Personally I think ESO has the perfect fast traveling system of any MMORPG.
You can fast travel at any time, requiring you to stand still for a cast. Every time you fast travel you pay a fee of gold. The more often you do it within a short time, the exponentially the gold costs become.
So you fast travel for example from Grathwood to Auridon, it costs like 104 gold (not much btw.) but the next time it costs 396 for example, degrading every few seconds a bit.
In WoW, the gold prices would be required to go up several thousands after 2, 3 or even 4 fast traveling summons, just so people and bots don’t abuse it.
We are in the amazon prime generation, if anything is less than now then is horrible service.
Soon in amazon yesterday, anything less than “before i even want it” you are legally not allowed to look in my face!
I suggest warrior because I play warrior. It could be something like warrior gets so angry cause he has no friends and he shouts with such a force that the allies materialize right next to him from all over the world.
Naa, I think we lack a real support class.
not super healer and not super dps ,but pure support and it could then have summoning capabilities.
just like we had Bard in Rift
Warlocks don’t create portals, they set up a stone that drags a person’s soul along with their body through the Nether Maelstorm. And it’s not a 2-way journey - once summoned, you can’t go back via the same means of “transportation” (unlike mages’ portals which can be used as highways).
Nah, just have warlock in your group, it’s mmo, class variety and unique interactions are important.
Or if you giving summons to mage give portals to warlock too
Other players might as well be ghosts in WoW. There’s zero interaction and you can literally walk through each other so “meeting” someone in open world is irrelevant.
There’s games where distance and encounters with other players matter, but this is not one of them.
WoW maintains these illusions to make it seem like everything’s working fine when in fact several aspects of the game have been dead for over a decade.
Well, guess why that is so. Because of all the people with bad hardware holding this games potential back. Sharding is in place to prevent bad performance with lots of stuff going on in the game, because the game is hardcoded to run on hardware.
Because WoW players want a personal safety bubble around themselves to avoid unwanted interaction.
In it’s current state it’s an annoyance that adds nothing to the gameplay. In a real MMO you can be ganked and robbed on your way to a raid, you can witness others getting ganked and decide to help them (or scavenge the remains).
In WoW traveling is irrelevant, distance is irrelevant, running into other players is irrelevant.
And as you pointed out we already have summoning to bypass all of it, so a “teleport to group leader” button wouldn’t change anything.
And to quote the posters who always say palatable and sophisticated stuff “more options is always better, lets people play the way they want”.
