They themselves have no idea what MMR does. There’s numerous posts on reddit that make you scratch your head thinking “the hell is this?”. 60% winrate 50 games people landing in 2,5k mmr due to having a 10+ game winstreak.
Do not try to make it make sense, cause it doesn’t. What you need to know is either winstreak or bust. Also, the general assumption seems to be that the first 20 games are your placements. So you are not there yet.
‘dont try to make it make sense’ but it makes perfect sense.
theres 20-30 placement games
you climb MMR and thus rating by going on a winstreak
so simple a child could understand it.
if it was impossible to understand or bugged in some way, we would see reports of people with 80% winrate after 50 games who can’t climb past 1700. or we’d see reports of people making 2 of the same spec, playing similar numbers of games yet one gets rocketed to the top and the other gets stuck at 1600.
We don’t see either of those things. In fact, we see the opposite - people with high winrates after 30-40 games climb rapidly, and people with high winrates on multiple characters of the same spec climb to the same ratings.
As an example the rank 1 sub rogue and rank 2 sub rogue are the same person. Both have hundreds of games played, one has 77% winrate, the other has 79% winrate. Makes sense, same player, same winrate, same rating.
This sub rogue queues with the same player, who also has two characters of the same spec, both MWs, both rank 1 and 2, both nearly identical winrates, both with hundreds of games played:
If the MMR is hard to explain, or bugged in some way, then how do you explain this? It makes perfect sense to me.
How to climb rating in Blitz:
Play a spec that is good at objectives
Actually queue up more than 30-40-50 games
Be somewhat good at your role
Win a lot
thats it. every single time you hear from someone that MMR is bugged or confusing, they’ve got sub 30 games played, often a negative winrate, and have just recently went on a losing streak.
20 games as placement is a lot, there is no bracket where is this high.
30 sounds even more crazy for me.
Also: on my evoker heal, i had like 15 games total played and my mmr was constantly going up after the first 10 games. This was the case on ele spec too. That’s why i tought the first 10 games are placement, then you play at your own MMR where you belong.
Exactly this is my problem. If I won 15 games while my MMR not moving, and i suddenly lose two games and my MRR can go DOWN, then it’s makes no sense at all. If we could see our own personal MMR at least…
I would love to see some details from Blizzard source, so we don’t have to guess and craft theories. I like to understand how these things works.
