We need more character customization

What flavour eyes and nose is extremely important for me while doing dungeons or raids. Thank you for opening my eyes sir

Customisations are incredibly important sir.

I switched from my favourite race forsaken to bloodelve cause I really like all the cool back accessories we now have but since blizzard isn’t sharing the orcs chiropractor with the forsaken all my mogs just look stupid.

Agreed.

For starters, I’d like a return to ā€˜male’ and female’ in the character customisation screen. If they want to add additional options to compensate for the removal, I’ll grin and bear it but as I see it, it isn’t inclusive to remove what the vast majority of men and women on the planet identify as.

That aside, I’d very much like to see more ā€˜normal’ hairstyles for Void Elves. If we’re not beating around the bush and pretending otherwise, on role-play servers in particular a lot of Void Elves are just straight up portrayed as High Elves instead.

So we might as well facilitate that further by adding more conventionally attractive hairstyles. At the same time, some more hairstyles that fit the Void Elf aesthetic should also be added so the race doesn’t move away from its core theme.

Give me Star Trek Online level of customization.

While the have height sliders they probably dont have as much as most races in WoW do now.

However what FF14 excels in is new hairstyles and emotes.

As for WoW races looking similar. Unless they’re allied races or the sorts WoW actually has different skeletons for races. FF14 tend to reuse skeletons and plop a new head on them and call it a day.

I’d go with individually colorable eyes and base color + highlights on hair.
Height slider
Reworked emote interface (of which you can drag and drop emote icons on the hotbar without filling up your macro inventory) along with a new set of persistant animations.

Leans, Military/Guard stance, ā€˜at ease’ and ones that just make you look busy without the use of toys and such.

I’d like some sort of screenshot mode.

NO. Selfie cam doesn’t count!!!

Actually 3 races, it also is an option for Worgen.

Well, those games have way less unique character models and that makes adding customization way easier.

I wouldn’t mind more fur patterns for Worgens and Vulperas.
(And Maaayyybbeeee, please, let the Worgens have their much wanted tails.)

Greater customisation with scarring, height, body types, hair styles and physical emoting would be sweet.

Goblins get a leaning-against-something emote in the next patch, so I guess we’re moving in the right direction. At typically slow speeds, granted, but moving.

WoW’s age is really showing in regard to its models, and it’s one of the reasons I’m a little wary of the Housing feature as well. As much as I hope that it’ll be amazing, the game is ancient at this point. There’s only so much new you can add before the core stuff begins to break.

Ironically a chest slider (along with height) are the only kind of slider WoW’s engine is capable of due to the way WoW chest armor are rigged. Which is almost always a single attach point and/or bone that can easily be translated or scaled for larger/smaller busts.

And a height slider is something WoW has supported since vanilla. See toys/potions that alter your height. Why we don’t have a dedicated slider for it is a mystery.

The models we have right now are older than the vanilla models were when they were replaced in WoD. And yeah, they really are starting to show their age. Both from a technical and artistic standpoint.

I think it’ll be interesting to see if a certain recent declaration in America leads to the company restoring the phrases ā€˜male’ and ā€˜female’ to the character creator.
