My friend won 100euro in battlenet balance on some website and since we get 33 days free time with the purchase she decided to buy it. We were burned hard after Battle For Azeroth and The Shadowlands and so we were never really going to buy it from our own money – since that bridge has been burned. Neither will we ever again pay a subscription for retail wow. We played BFA for 850hours and shadowlands for 56 hours,. Legion was between 1000-2000hours. We are currenty lvl 62 or 63. No motivation to continue really.
The game is worse than it was during BFA. Damage numbers are gone, gone from the menu, my levels are gone, my item levels are reset, basically everything that makes an mmo an mmo and an rpg a rpg has been reset. Why not just make a wow2 then at this point. It would reset everything as well but at least look good and not like a dead boomer world. Like after 2 years of playing modern games it’s REALLY hard to accept this poor graphics and world design.
The questing, everyone on YT said it was great, wow is back. No it’s really not. It’s the same boring fetch and kill quests that you’ve done a billion times. The story is pure cringe full of ugly animated dragons and their boring life stories. No one cares. The combat is just awful, i never noticed it because i never really tried something else, but this boomer hotkey combat really has outstayed it’s welcome.
We both play the new race/class which painfully shows the age of this hotkey boomer mess. It plays awful. It’s not fun and not responsive at all.
This post is just to warn others, no the game is not good. The people who say it’s good have suffered through Shadowlands, anything looks good after that, keep that in mind. There is nothing to do for casuals, no housing, just 1 boring and ugly dragon mount, and new boomer class and some endless supplies of copy and pasted quests. Do not buy it, play classic.

No, not really. Nothing has improved, everything just got worse.
PS this is what i play on for Googlers, if my level stays sub 70 than you are ensured the leveling itself is not even worth it. NEVER EVER have i quit before cap. Even Shadowlands i suffered through for 56 hours and level capped 2 chars.
Simply removing bad systems does not make it better. It just removed the tumor that never should’ve grown. Like if you actually think this then you really deserve retail wow in it’s form over the past decade.
Lol, no. It was not, sorry to be bearer of bad news. You’re not gonna convince me anyway. And I won’'t be able to convince the top addicts of the forums. It’s for google, for normal people like myself who have been disconnected from the game for years and tried other stuff in their lives.
Fair enough, but google is also going to tell searchers that the majority of people prefer Dragonflight to previous expansions so… enjoy venting I guess.
exactly, the addicts who even ate Shadowlands for hundreds of hours. not really important opinions. like if you like trash, thats great. you do you. it’s a free world. The vast majority is playing classic and other games. the fact that I got 30 days tells me the game did not sell well.
I’m happy with the 30 days, without, we wouldn’t have bought it and just sold the credit to someone who sees value in bnet balance. As I said, the bridge of a subscription has been burned with SL. Never again. Dragonlands does not change that. I was hopeful due to the positivity on Youtube but I noticed low views and already assumed it’s the last few who even enjoyed SL. I was right.

I’ve seen the videos, the questing is good. I’m sorry it’s not. It’s the same as in classic but without immersion and with some cringe cinematic and voice. I’m 62, I cant judge past that, but first impressions matter.
You look deep enough it was positive, although, that must be on my other char from cata and before. After cata I mainly played mage, and it slowly got more negative. Not weird tbh, in that same time wow lost 90% of it’s playerbase. I wonder why.
It’s really saddens me that you remember me, a random forum poster that hasn’t played more than 50 hours in 3 years? It tells me a lot about your life. I don’t know you or anyone here, i’m sorry… But yes, for free, I am willing to try. Sadly even for free it’s just not good (so far at least). And I wanted to share that.
In the end it is just my opinion. The fact that it is the majority opinion still does not make me or us right. It’s like taste. Some like x others y. I like God of War, others like well, trash like Fifa, free world.
