Not sure if Iāll bother with it but if itās free then I might try it at least.
I donāt think the āon different charactersā means that you have to use 7 different characters for 7 different challenges, but that you simply need multiple characters, at least 3 specifically, to have access to all the 7 encounters.

Itās an achievement, no?
It means i could only get 1 role challenge done for my paladin for example, which is nonsense.
Does that mean:
āWe need players to know they canāt do this on just one character, so weāll say āon different charactersāā or does it mean āweāre making this an Account achievement that does need 7 chars to do, but we donāt want to alarm anyone as this isnāt a 100% final decisionā?
Your guess is as good as mine. I thought whoever writes this stuff is a native english speaker, but I guess they no longer teach how to write clear messages in us schools.

The former. They just want to pre-emptively answer questions of ācan I do this using just my main?ā.
(No need to use 7 characters. A single character may be used to complete multiple fights.)

Exactly this.
It doesnāt make sense that we must use individually, distinct characters to unlock the mount. As long as we complete the 7 challenges, weāll most likely get the achievement and mount.
Sigh ā¦ I love the tome and voted for it when we had the mount vote. But I only play SP and at a much lower ilvl & skill a balance druid. So no tome for me.
We have no idea what the challenges would be compared to the original ones. They might be super easy.
Well the Legion timewalking will re-appear in the future periodically anyway.
So youāll have more chances, Blizz probably wonāt update it at some point and the power scaling will make it easy.
I have a feeling this will be out of my reach too. Which is a shame.

I will very likely not even ever get 3 different classes to max level the way this game is going. Certainly not for something as irritating as the mage tower.

I think itās a pretty safe bet that they will be tuned for something like 245-250. In that if the original tuning is too easy, they will tune it higher. Because āfeeling of accomplishmentā (or, more bluntly, extra months to gear up whatever alts you wanted the skins for).
Iād forgotten that Legion Timewalking is a permanent addition, not a 9.1.5 limited thing, so I will have time after all

That is the question. Hopefully 7 chars will not be needed, but we donāt know for sure. Iād certainly like to do 3 of them on this char as DPS, Tank and Healer.
No, you lost. Mage tower will not reward you with those elite artifact appearances. They will remain unique. You will get instead new transmog sets.
The OP is not about mage tower, but about the book mount which lost to the ancient treant.
