I’m really struggling with this class, I feel so weak and I die very easily when I go up against the rare elites in Legion content, I feel far from a hero class. Honestly I cannot remember that this class was that bad when it first came out, did they just nerf the class or what, I mean since Legion ?
It may be because I’m just bad at playing this class, hitting wrong buttons, wrong talents etc. But I cannot help thinking that this class does not feel like a hero class, that it should be a minor bit more powerful than the regular classes.
Yesterday night, I was eating my way through Stormheim, and I was not able to kill 2 rare elites, a wolf, and a two headed giant, I kept getting killed, no matter how many times I tried, its like my health just vanishes so quickly before I’m able to kill it. I have killed these elites on all my other regular characters without breaking a sweat.
Two things. Use Demonic Appetite from the first row and make sure to pick up the souls, which heal you a lot, and also go for Soul Rending instead of Desperate Instincts.
When you hit 110, pick up Demonic and leveling will be a breeze since then you can just AoE mass pull mobs most of the time.
Without Soul Rending, you just have Blur as a reliable defensive, which is not much. Darkness only has a 20% chance to avoid damage, which is only really big viable on large groups like 20 people in a raid stacking up.
All classes suck donuts when not at max level and without latest patch gear.
Don’t worry it’s not a DH/player issue.
As the user above me said, remember to pick up demonic, Soul Rendering AND switch to Blind Fury. This will not only improve your DPS but also give you much needed self sustain.
Remember also that any kill will get you a soul to self heal. So if you see some adds, don’t hesitate to switch target and focus on them a bit.
DH was actually very overpowered when it came out and has since been nerfed multiple times, while the PvE content has pretty much stayed the same.
They used to have 100% leech in Meta in early Legion (nerfed to 70% in wow.gamepedia.com/Patch_7.1.5).
The problem with leech as a stat is that you have to deal a lot of damage for it to be effective.
Picking up Demonic Appetite sure helps as others have mentioned. It is RNG but still a lifesaver. In BFA you will want the Azerite Power that gives you a soul fragment upon purging a magic effect.
