Weapon cache emissary reward wrong for my spec

I am fairly a new player when it comes to wow and have recently reached BfA content. I’ve been trying to gear up my holy paladin as best as I could but have been very unlucky when it comes to getting a weapon (still have a random green ilvl 266 one). Today when I logged on I was thrilled when I saw the emissary would give me a weapon cache. After doing all of the quests needed I got a sword ilvl 350… strength based… on my holy paladin.

I am not familiar with how these caches work, but so far I’ve never had a problem or gotten loot not meant for my spec. (I even have it set so that the loot drop is right for my spec)

Does this mean that items from the caches are not affected by loot specialization?

You are right, they are not affected by the loot specialisation.
They only give w/e your class can use.

Since Legion added these kind of activities, Emissary quests as well as the end of an Invasion/Assault quest have been Class specific rather than spec.

We’ve heard a lot of feedback about that so in Season 2 (coming real soon) this will be changing:

What’s Changing (and Not!) in Season 2

In Season 2, emissary caches and similar rewards like Assault wrapper quests will award loot based on your spec (or loot spec, if chosen) instead of your class.

Standard world quests will continue to provide rewards based on class rather than spec, for two reasons:

You can see the exact reward up-front, and choose whether or not to do the content if the reward doesn’t interest you. This also can offer a way to shore up weak off-spec slots without worrying that you might miss out on a major upgrade.

If world quest rewards were spec-based, it might seem like the right behavior to cycle through your specs when evaluating potential rewards for every world quest, especially early in a tier, which seems like pretty annoying gameplay.

But neither of those reasons applies to something like emissaries or Assaults, where you don’t see what the reward will be until the end. And as you say, it can be frustrating if it’s for a spec you have no intention of playing, or it can simply feel like a bug. So we’re changing it.

Yeah I just completed the emissary quest and received a two-hander in spite of my spec being prot… ah well.

I am glad your changing this, about 7 times so far i have done these things on my assassination rogue and got a sword, mace or an axe, none of which I can use in assassination as mutilate requires you to have 2 daggers equipped
