Weather system and day cycle

Flying around today completing the originals quest and as I’m flying towards Azshara it starts raining the view is beautiful. But within a minute or two it stops and that’s it.

The same with the day and night cycle it only lasts a little bit.

Is there any plan for blizzard improving on this to give us a proper day, night and weather cycle I think this is one system that wow is missing and I would absolutely love to see it implemented fully.

Oh yes, please. I would love darker nights especially in the old world (ever been to Tanaris at night? There’s no difference besides the sky. Really.) and much more weather. Like the dense rain they implemented in Zuldazar, the thunderstorms in Tiragarde and so on. More love for the old world!

I would kill for a weather system, I want snow in more places of Azeroth. If GTA V can Incoporate it into their online for a few days im sure blizz can do. Let there be snow in my westfall.

What ever happened to the supposed “weather 2.0” that BfA was supposed to bring??

In my opinion it’s one of the things I think WoW is really lacking in and would drastically improve the game atmosphere is delivered.

What can be done for those on different schedules is allow them to set their own in game time, so if they work late and want to see the game in day time they can just flip it from day to night or viceversa.

denser fog, rain that makes the ground appear wet, clouds that obscure the light and even thunder storms would really add a life to the environment that could really help capture some imagination in the players.

Having some cosmetic items to coincide with that such as rain coats on bad days…finally a use for the cloak beyond just appearance.

I think in some part it comes down to expectations of a modern game, WoW has been around for a long time but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be seeing the game world evolve just as much as we see the game evolve. Sure we get new zones and content in those zones but the weather is largely unchanged in any of them.

just a few thoughts on it.

It’s coming right after dance studio.

Hello!

Unfortunately any and all RPG elements have been removed from WoW, along with the vast majority of other things that created an immersive, atmospheric world that gave a real sense of engagement.

Even more unfortunately, the chances of any of these things being added back or made in any way meaningful are pretty much zero.

Blizzard have often stated that the biggest and most important character in WoW is the world itself (and I don’t mean in the sense of the current, dodgy narrative). I think in the past this was true, but nowadays its soul has been gutted by the removal of things mentioned in this thread along with the obsessive use of phasing.

An optional Day/night cycle would be nice. Options are Always a good thing to have. To each their own.

Which is right after Path of the Titans which is right after aerial combat which is right after useful professions which is right after playable naga and ogres on a third neutral faction.

i have heard that there is a full day/night cicle on the mobile version

My guess is “weather 2.0” = “RNG weather”. I mean everything else is WoW nowadays is RNG driven, why not the weather too. RNG weather with a 5 min re-roll interval.
World of Casinocraft with Stormwind -> Atlanta and Orgrimar -> Las Vegas.

I would love an optional setting to have nights like the inky potion.

tl:dr Bring realistic weather patterns to WoW and make night time actually dark rather than just a slightly dimmer version of day.

Atmosphere is somewhat lacking in WoW and has been for a long time now. For me a lot of the atmosphere comes from the weather which is something that GTA has always done really well.

When it rains it rains for quite a while and the NPC’s walking around react to the weather and carry umbrellas and if you actually listen to them speak they will complain about the weather also. The way the rain would fall and drenched the game world to form puddles is something I would often stop and watch as it was done so well and this is something that I would love to see in WoW.

In WoW I would like to see synced rainy days where for entire regions it would be raining and not just in a single zone. An example would be its raining in Elwynn forest, Stormwind, Westfall, Dustwood and Redbridge.

At the moment when flying or even running around the game world the weather changes far too often.

I would like to see realistic weather patterns and damp surfaces further to this it would be great if night time was actually dark rather than just a slightly dimmer version of day with a different skybox especially in places like duskwood.

Maybe even expand on areas with certain enemies or different kind of enemies appear at night.
They could even make certain resources appear at night to, like herbs etc
