And this will be the same with cata. S9 Will be ok. S10 PvE gear already starts to kick in with heroic rag gear being bonkers. S11 I won’t even mention it, dragon soul gear being so overpowered.
On top of that you have everyone who’s remotely good who already started playing cata on private realms, so they’ll come in with hundreds or thoudand of hours of gameplay ahead of you.
Do yourself a favour, don’t try it. All your good memories of the xpac will be erased within one session.
Tbh i dont think that matters really. If you’re decent at the game you will catch up in few days/weeks. If you dont know how to play some matchups just check random Twitch cataclysm prodigy and take notes. Personally i dont know these people much but from what i’ve seen most of these people are pure trolls (ofc there are decent people among them). The issues imo when it comes to cata people is that I. the population would be too low which results in less good people playing, inflated ego lower skill ceiling which means it’s hard for them to improve and even if they spent 10 years of playing cata the overall level of players would be lower than of their counterparts who would play retail for example. II. Lower population means there are no 3s ques so strats are not as developed cos you cant get much practise. Like when i played cata on cata AT 10 years ago there would be like 100 people at best? Idk actual numbers however it was very low.
Also its pretty funny to watch some wotlk players trying to adapt to cata. Seeing locks trying destro (and for some reason playing imp in every matchup) is quite funny.
Personally i expect such people getting absolutely destroyed in 5s and rated bgs (basically the bigger bracket the harder it gets)
Anyway i love cataclysm affli and boomkin design and would like to reexperience it so i hope blizz wont forget to remove titles from 2s cos cataclysm 2s are probably the worst 2s ever.

This will 100% make or break Cata PvP.
we were not playing AT for cata though (main reason most of us played there was to enjoy wotlk). And it was when AT was on the decline, (like they hosted only one cata tournament I believe? I just remember one where marm/hulkpas forgot the 3rd (fnober maybe?) won) so I’m not sure it’s a good metric.
Coming from AT like you I know how retail players thought AT players were trash until they actually got dumpstered by them. And i’m sure you know that well too. I hven’t played private realms since AT though and I haven’t watched twitch in like 2 years so idk how good cata players are and i’ll take your word for it, but the best players are probably not streaming because they may want their stream to strive with cata release so they want to avoid ban (unless streaming private realms became legal on twitch).
Anyways, I hope you’re right and most of us go into cata with blindfolds (or just the memories we have from OG cata) but I’ll remain doubtful for now.

but theres are also cheats out there for cata, some cringe named Spain male troll hunters are using it on whitemane, and scatter u 15-20 yards away while you are in stealth, using pre deter to avoid stun/coil and and and…
they already have cheats/scripts for cata, but it´s not as bad as wotlk script cheats
because most of the private server “cheater resource” went into wotlk when it comes to the privat server scene
we will see way less cheater in cata compared to current wotlk classic, but they will still be there, most likely German/Spain and a handful of russian.

So if 4.3.* cheats won’t work due to some memory offset changed, then it’s going to take some time and effort to develop new cheats that will. And I’m more convinced that Whitemane boys found some 2010 “[Cata] 100% Working Stuff. Free sample!” Ownedcore thread, rather than they’re a bunch of S+ Software Engineers making cheats as a hobby (like this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4zBx0cG3Ak).

Yes, there will definitely be a few Russian Basement scripters, what makes scripts/bots for cata only, but 100% not as much as in Wotlk currently

It is completed game, everybody knows what to do, what’s best comp/class and what’s best talents for every situation in arena. People already abusing on pr server pet resummon on hunter with constant sac and infinite banana stuns. Maybe there are other toxic mechanics
Cata might be good if there will be huge changes which would shift meta: dampening, massive buffs and nerfs. So, nobody would know what’s best
However, if u disagree, enjoy playing more dead game than even current retail
And remember there is weak auras and this addon that calls every global in female voice. I’ve watched bunch of old vods from cata and r1 players didnt even use addons or were using bare minimum, no details, no alerting in the middle of the screen for people with disabilities. Not sure but haven’t noticed modern gameplay where everyone trying to damp for 40 mins and running around pillar for 5-10 mins

I was watching some warrior stream on Twitch earlier today, the guy was doing a r1 push on wrath and he was openly and blatantly using scripts, it was wild… He had like 250 viewers and you could clearly see it by checking his action bars and see what buttons “he was pressing”. He never spammed a global, every button was pressed only once and everything was global perfect, like what? I’m sorry, but classic arena is a complete utter joke.
I knew it was bad, but didn’t know people just stream themselves scripting and botting like this publicly. lmao

I am hyped for Cata pvp, I hope as many people as possible join in, anything is better than whatever retail is doing these days… If only Blizz would allow themselves to break things like Gur’Thalak and legendary daggers in pvp so they don’t screw it up that would be great though…

There will be changes considering private servers are off when it comes to tuning. But why would it make it better?
God, no. Maybe in 2s, but that would just make DK+Healer even stronger.
Why is that good? I don’t see any compelling reason to prefer an “unsolved metagame” over one where tier lists are known. Besides, Cataclysm balance is good enough that nearly every spec is rank 1 viable in season 9 & 10. I’d rather be able to play Enhancement to rank 1 because I know which comps can go far, than be stuck in low glad because I have to figure out the meta first with a slightly underpowered spec.
There’s been weak auras before. What’s your point? Weak Aura is not necessary at all in Cataclysm/MoP, the game is clear enough that you can see what’s being used with other tools.

Because it was forbidden in BlizzCon. I’ve had Omnibar + PAB + Gladius/sArena + BigDebuffs + TellMeWhen forever. Nothing changed. Those add ons are fine, they should just be baseline.

S11 is ruined, don’t have any hopes for it. Luckily it will be very short.
It depends on what 4.4 entails, but on Cataclysm private servers, cheating really hasn’t been a big issue. I still hope it won’t happen on Classic, I’d hate to lose to Russians or Spaniards with PQR in their names. :') Thankfully third world countries have the most cheaters, and third world country players typically stay on private servers.

There are literal AI bots in solo shuffle at 2400 as well, this is not a “classic” issue.
Gaming in 2024 in general is plagued by P2W aspects/Botting/Cheating.

A reasonable choice. I firmly believe that Cataclysm will be popular due to how bad Retail is. Most PvP enjoyers will give it a go because “Eh, at least it’s not Retail.” and find it enjoyable, at least for the first two seasons. I truly hope season 11 won’t affect MoP’s popularity, though. Season 11 is very bad.
Very true. But there’s a difference between cheating in a game and broadcasting yourself cheating in a game to a relatively big audience.
i noticed only some weird spain people are cheating there, but they dont have enough money for gametime anyway (i talked allot to them back in the days when i played cata on monster wow
my problem with cata is just the tsunami trinket, and monkey double cc after pet dismiss, if they change this, i will give cata a try, if not i will stay far away from it
and that feral cant shapeshift mage root is kinda annoying

We’ll have to see on Classic what it’s like, there may be some private servers shenanigans at play here.
I hope that will be changed as well, but my hopes are low. Since I do not play hunter, I’m just considering it as a Hunter mechanic, and deal with it. There will always be toxic mechanics, it is what it is.
Feral is so broken, that can’t be changed. Even without being able to clear roots, feral is overpowered. To change that would require a lot of balance change to compensate.
