I moved a few steps further after killing the last mob for some quest, and suddenly I died. Like, without any reason, just like that, at full HP.
I checked the combat log, it was FULL of spam of like 10-14 fire damage, 100+ lines of this in a row. Which seems to be what “killed” me.
Except there was no fire around anywhere and I was just running over plain old stone, and no mobs nearby.
This actually happened to another character of mine too a few days ago, random kill by mini-fire-spam of 200+ hits all at once without any visible source of fire damage around.
What is this crap Blizzard???

during the fire festival event sometimes passing next to the bonefire? u get insane amount of low fire damage spam.
even now when fire festival event is gone & bone fire vanished? passing next to it’s spot can still do damage you.
what do you expect from blizzard :)?

The same happened to menon my alt when exiting thunder stronghold in blades edge. I took almost 6k dmg from 10-15 firedmg ticks in an instant. Survived with 100ish hp. I had just honored the flame outside before going in and turning in a quest. So the bonfire was probably the reason.
Seems to happen anywhere semi close to bonfires but not next to them. Saw a clip of somone at ahune. Then he walks about 20 yards from the bonfire and just instant dies to 10-16 fire damage spam.
Are you sure somebody didnt do 5 point palm on you?

Same here, happened to me.
suffers 12 fire damage
suffers 13 fire damage
suffers 10 fire damage
suffers 15 fire damage
x 100
and dead
that happened to me doing lvl 5 quests on my alt,i was killing this orcs inside of a rock,suddenly i died all burned!!!
had to walk like 2 miles to get to my body !!!
Hah, I had this exact same thing happen to me, flew low over the ground in Nagrand, at the point in time a few days ago where the fires were disabled for a bit, it instantly took me to 40% HP I looked around quick to see what the hell was damaging me but before I could do that I died.
Tons of 12-14 fire dmg in the combatlog too.
The non-capital city firs are still there although invisible. You can throw a burning blossom at them for the buff.
And burn quickly. 
Maybe, Blizz is trolling us.
