Weird problem with WoW and Skype

Hello everyone. First time posting here, but this issue annoys me a lot.

Okay, so i recently came back to wow (i played last year around this time in legion). I’ve noticed that when im playing and using skype at the same time (meaning talking on skype) my microphone “lags out”. I dont know if that is the correct term but basicly my friends are saying that its as if my mic lowers itself almost every time i start talking. Sometimes it “cuts me out” in the middle of a sentence. When i close WoW that issue disappears. This did not happen back in legion.

I looked through both the ingame settings and my audio settings and everything seems fine. Im using an old laptop (it gets the job done still, i play the game fine). This issue doesn’t occur when i play other games and talk on skype.

I was just wandering if anyone else has had this issue and has figured out a way to fix it.

Im using Windows 10, laptop is Toshiba Sattelite C855-149.

Hey Garndek,

It sounds like your Mic might indeed be adjusting itself, when other applications are able to use it. Check the Microphone Properties and see if “Allow applications to taek exclusive control of this device” is enabled. If it is, see if disabling that helps out.
