Weird situations with mobs randomly pulling in mythic plus dungeons

Hello,

I have noticed since the start of this patch that there are some odd shenanigans occuring with pulls in mythic plus. This is something that myself and a lot of my friends have been experiencing but we can’t seem to pinpoint exactly how or what is happening.

For instance, we may be fighting pack A and all of a sudden pack B right in the distance will aggro us, there is no sign of any spells being cast in that direction, no sign of pets running over, they just seem to appear out of nowhere.

I understand there are various interactions with certain spells that have in the past caused issues in certain dungeons, or continue to do so (ret palas pulling through floor/wall in waycrest, hunter rockets doing weird stuff) but this is happening to a lot of us, with many different compositions in most dungeons, and in scenarios where no matter what spell could have been cast, we were well out of range of the mobs that actually pulled, it’s baffling.

I know there was also one instance where we skipped a pack and spiteful from the previous pack appeared to body pull the back we skipped as it walked through, some of these can be explained, but some of them really cannot, literally have mobs yeeting over to us from the other side of the room with no understanding as to why/how.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this, and has any insight as to what could be happening? It’s caused a few wipes for us here and there and would love to find out how it’s happening.

Yeah.

I did a +21 WM.

Luckily I was on voice with the tank, we were pulling in the hallway outside raal’s room. Tank runs to the end where it turns right and people start nuking stuff there. Then he’s gonna pull more and I’m like “NO, DON’T, NAMEPLATES ARE MOVING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL” and then we got 2 packs from the room that’s to the right right as you enter WM. It was me on holy priest, him on prot warrior and then DH, BM hunter & moonkin as the DPS. No idea what could have pulled them.

People always complain about how far I can see nameplates and so on but it’s for a reason that I’ve set it so far.

To give you an idea of where the tank was and what was pulled:

Waycrest is for sure the worst offender on this. The game has a problem with walls and z-axis.

Hmm yeah there’s definitely some sketchy stuff in Waycrest. It reminds me of some similar stuff that happened in Tol Dagor too. The weird thing is though, this is happening to us in many other places, DHT, Everbloom, Atal Dazar are all instances where either myself or guildies have had really bizarre pulling scenarios many of which shouldn’t have wall issues.

I guess it’s not helped by the fact that cause it’s on a timer you’re not really in a position to pause the run to try and figure out if details could give some insight, especially given that most of the time this has happened, we’re already engaged with one pack, and then another seems to start charging over from nowhere!

Yeah I think Waycrest is a very typical one for a lot of ppl. Just odd that it’s happening in so many other dungeons too. Not something I experienced in S2 or S1 either, but it seems rife this season.

It’s the ninja-puller seasonal affix.

WM is awful for strange pulls. We’ve had mobs from above or below pull and run up, bringing lots with them. I don’t know if they’ve fixed some of it because it happened less and less over time.

I’m also struggling with packs being too close together and there are times I literally can’t hit packs on my paladin because I know judgement will split and hit them. This is more of an issue in old dungeons rather than new. They just aren’t laid out with modern abilities in mind IMO.

I think this is mostly it to be honest, old dungeons not quite being as polished with considerations for things pulling through walls etc, at least those aspects can be explained and iirc back in BFA as a BM main I had issues with beast cleave pulling stuff in Tol Dagor.

It’s the open areas in other dungeons that really baffle me though, we had a scenario in Everbloom at the second to last boss, we’re fighting the first trash pack in that open area leading up to her there, and literally out of nowhere the trash just before the portal to the final encounter comes running over, it was completely out of range so no way somebody did a dodgy tab (although on a sidenote Ive been having issues with tabbing doing some super unintuitive stuff this patch too and targeting mobs super far away when there’s an entire pack in front of me). Was just really bizarre and can’t put my finger on why it happened, and that was a bit of a nightmare on a fort key too with that room being heavy for cc and interrupts as it is.

Perhaps some strange spell interaction, lucky for me I can run with a guild and not have to deal with pugs collapsing in on each other when these things happen.
