Since some days I have game-breaking sound and performance problems.
- It happens on live and Beta
- Sometimes some sounds are just missing (e.g. mounting up or own attack spells but I still here other sounds from enemies or team mates)
- Sometimes sounds are postponed. I hear them 5 -60 seconds later in a fast forward play mode.
- Sometimes I have 2-5 sec game freezes with no sound at all
- It mostly happens when I group up. Rarely when playing solo.
Anyone any idea what’s going on?
I tried disabling all add-ons but it didn’t make a difference. I first appeared after the weekly reset but I guess it has nothing to do with it because it happens on Live and Beta.

Just to point out one thing.
Disabling addons is insufficient for a diagnostic, as that only does what it says, it disables them, it doesn’t remove them. They still get loaded into memory, and their callbacks hooked up to whatever functions they are hooked up to, just instructed not to execute. But the fact that they are still loaded up, can mean they can still cause issues. For a true diagnostic elimination of addon issues they need to be removed entirely.
However in your case considering that the problem affects both retail and beta, I don’t think an addon issue is highly likely. I just wanted to point out that just disabling addons is insufficient, and why.

Got the same problem!
On classic as well, if my sound is off everything is running smoothly, but as as soon as i turn on the sound it becomes a laggy mess 
I deleted my Interface and WTF Folder and it’s working now on Beta. Need to double-check if it really was the reason 
Edit: It didn’t work.
- I changed to my PCI Express Asus Sound Card (from my on-board)
- I deleted the Interface and Addons Folders
- I have pressed the Repair Game in the Bnet Client button
- I have updated all drivers for my Soundcard
For me, it sounds like it’s on Blizzards end? Because it also happened overnight and I didn’t change anything.
I’m having same issues on retail and beta. I tried running repair, reinstalling audio drivers, graphic drivers, deleting cache, interface, wtf folders on both retail and ptr and resetting settings in battle net. Lowering audio quality, disabling/enabling every audio setting etc…
Sometimes its fine but sometimes I mount and sound effect plays after couple of seconds. Its even worse with voice. I once got dozen of voices overlayed at once during converstion, they lagged and started playing all at once. I get random freezes sometimes which i feel are also related to sound.
I also feel it happens more often where there are more people

Also tried out Overwatch and Destiny. Not a single sound problem during a multiplayer match.
I tried bunch of other games (new hitman, destiny 2, swtor) and I have no issues whatsoever. I think this is on blizzards end or something else weird going on… I just subbed yesterday first time in a while and game not best with sound now. When did this start for you?
I’m also experiencing identical issue. Sound delays are seemingly constant, they vary from few to 30-60 seconds. Game freezes are less frequent, but I noticed that the game froze for like a minute when I turned sound on/off, it happened several times.

Hi guys , last two or three days I have this issue where sound is really buggy ,
sometimes there is no sound at all and sometimes the sound is late for like 30 seconds. and game also freezes alot , fps drops to 1 and it stucks for as long as 15-20 seconds. I tried everything , deleting all addons ,cache ,WTF, repaired the game,tried using different headphones or speakers but nothing helped.
Same issues here, It just started after reset, Wednesday. Scan & repair not working, disabling addons as well, I uninstalled WoW Beta since I had the same problem there but still, nothing happened. There is a notification that says ‘‘game data is currently being downloaded’’ over and over which makes sounds laggy, constant game freezes.
Also been having this issue since 2 weeks.
Everything works fine with sound disabled.
But once I turn sound on, the sound will lag for a bit. Then a big spike happens when all the sound catches up.
Tried deleting wtf/interface, repairing, different sound options…
Nothing seems to make a difference. It definitely happens a lot more in crowded situations.
I fixed it by reinstalling game and disabling future patch download. It works properly since then.
Also having sound issues. Mounting up sound is gone, skinning mobs is soundless. It only works at login thereafter sound for similar activities are gone
