Weird stutter every 0,5 seconds

My fps are fine, usually locked in at 60, unless there’s a lot of particles or volumetric fog on the screen, but the whole game sort of freezes every half second or so, for a tiny fraction of a second. It’s most noticable when moving in a straight line and occurs independent of graphics settings (tried everything from 1 to 9, all AA settings, Vsync on/ off, fps limited/ unlimited, triple buffer on/ off). Disabled mods, of course. Did nothing.
I have a 1070 and tried several different driver versions. I closed all background applications I could and still it persists.
I only noticed it about a week ago, but I haven’t made any other changes to my system or WoW. If anyone has any idea what might be causing it, I’d be grateful. It’s really getting on my nerves.

Do you have SSD or HDD ? While playing WoW click CTRL + ALT + DEL and go to performance, look if cpu or disk usage is not peaking at 100%

It’s on an SSD. CPU usage for WoW is at about 30%, with 40% total, GPU similarly.

Stuttering is mostly bound to V-Sync, when your GPU cannot sync with your CPU because of fps drops. Try to disable V-Sync and set FPS limit to 60. Also check in your power setting if you have set max performance.

You’re a lifesaver. I disabled v-sync ingame, but set it to adaptive in the nvidia panel. Seems to have fixed it. Thank you very much!
