Gather 'round ye brave souls of Azeroth, for I shall now recount a tale so cursed, so beautifully depressing, it deserves its own ballad
Flasked up. Runed. Fully repaired. Mentally prepared to be emotionally shattered. I join a raid PUG for HC Gallywix because like an idiot, I still have hope in humanity.
The raid leader who is a true visionary tells us to wait a min so he can build his perfect group. That wait a min turns into 30 because he’s trying to summon Sun Tzu to draft his raid comp.
Finally the stars align and our “elite” group of heroes forms. Bis this. Bis that. Logs linked. Rio checked. Everyones egos are bigger than their DPS
The first pull turns into an instant wipe. Everybody stands in red circles on the ground.
DPS scatter like cockroaches.
The raid leader, once the proud architect of this “elite” group, leaves. Why didn’t “the raid leader” just uninstall back in Warlords of Draenor?
The group evaporates. Like my will to live.
No loot. No boss kill. No time back. Just a repair bill.
And this is wow now. A mix of elitists insecure manchildren.
I don’t know what’s worse. the fact that I still PUG or that I still expect it to go well.
I haven’t raided this expansion, but in the past the more try hard the group was the better idea it was to avoid it. I normally find it better to join groups that are more casual. They tend to be willing to wipe on occasion. Groups like the one you were in are more likely to be run by boosters….
Ah yes, the glorious story of raiding. That’s why I’m mostly doing solo delves nowadays… I no longer have got the time to waste with “raiding” that I had back during my days as a student.
And this is why I do not pug content anymore in this game.
Too many people that think they’re the top 1% playerbase, but they can’t even do basic mechanics.
Yet it’s never their fault, and the slightest mistake ends up in flaming and disbands.
If its any consolation: on my new level 80 I got called out for low dps, while I was one of the few in the LFR on Gallywix that actually stayed alive during the whole fight. Us smart people are still out there. DONT GIVE UP HOPE!
Agreed .there are still nice people in the game .uptil now I only had one bad experience but in the same mythic I found a nice person who gave me some helpful tips
You have bad pug groups and you have good pug groups. Most of my pug groups are actually absolutely fine, at least when I am healing.
I joined a casual raid guild and they still were not able to clear 8/8 hc. Yesterday we were wiping Mug’Zee like… for over 1 hour. And that’s not for the first time. On my alts I was farming trinket and just casually joined pugs and killed it. No problem whatsoever.
If I cared about clearing HC I definitely would pug my way through instead of joining a casual guild. That’s for sure.
The only annoying thing as a healer with pugs is that they always have way too many healers… like 6 healers for Gally lol…
Today’s “instant reward system” in most games are the primary reason as to why most players- especially younger generations, have no patience, no self-discipline and are egoistic. It has affected even a 20 year old game such as WoW with such negativity.
It’s incredibly obvious if you look back at raids during Vanilla up to Wrath of the Lich King, when people stayed until the raid was finished or when you called it off because the boss couldn’t be killed with that particular group. Today many people leave a group just by saying “hello” to them, or when you try to be generally social in the group. And many people leave if you happen to wipe once, in a group which you killed let’s say 6 bosses flawlessly before the wipe.
Almost every Undermine normal & heroic pug I’ve been in there have been people who can’t do mechanics that are present in LFR, due to their DPS/HPS-tunnel visioning. They want high logs and be the top the Details! DPS/HPS meters, and win all the loot, but can rarely put in the effort to help the group by doing the mechanics as they will lose DPS or HPS.
For some people the “instant reward system” is too slow and they are so impatient/no-skill issue, that they have to buy their rio progress and Ahead of the Curve achievement from boosters.
The result of these negative traits is that it becomes a pit of toxicity and negativity, leading to situations we see every day in pugs today.
