Welcome to trade chat

Blizz introduced a safe way to buy gold that didn’t compromise accounts and gave players a method to play for free.

not just that, but a roundabout way to get pay2win.
because if you can do this, get gold, pay for boosts, etc. you are literally paying to win.
at the same time, those of us who pay a monthly fee for our account on top of paying that up front fee for the game and expansions… we are having to deal with the knock-on effect of pay2win / free2play mechanisms.

I personally don’t think that’s a fair situation.

If you are going to claim people never bought boosts pre-token then I can tell you, you are very much mistaken.

The nature of very repeatable content made BfA a boosters haven. Very few lockouts prohibit boosters. They can run the same content day in day out and we’ve seen the boosting scene explode as a result.

obviously it existed before, but it didn’t cause a problem for the whole lot of us before.
I’m pretty sure we never had this kind of continuous spam before. yes there was now and then, someone would yell WTB boost. but that was it. it’s wasn’t a constantly advertised thing… I mean this is being treated like a bloomin industry now.

Perhaps blizzard needs to give us another automated system LFB (looking for boost)

Actually boosting in trade chat is so annoying. Same with LFG when i enter to push some keys at evening 50-60% is boosting…srsly…One time i asked how much they want for raden MH 475 for my rogue - answer shocked me 700K. 60$(if im not wrong) for that?

Just as a heads up…

“Embellishing” your evidence doesn’t make it any more credible.

Quite the opposite in fact.

And that is the end of this thread and countless others like it.

Oh dear. It’s not ‘evidence’, I made it all up. it’s a joke. It’s parody.

You don’t have to look far for evidence for pete’s sake. just log into the game and enter a city.

It’s a fact. Not an argument. i suggest you try your own advice, and maybe not look so daft next time you try to act like you have one.

Some people seem to make a problem of it. People are selling trades in the trade channel. To me that is a vast improvement on dirge, bottom jokes and the thunderfury spam we used to get.

So you made up something to try and make a point?

That’s actually… worse.

no it’s not. comedians do it all the time. not to make a point. this isn’t a seat of government. it’s a public forum. people make jokes in a public forum to lighten the mood, to have a laugh, to give people a bit of stress relief. to loosen the bug up their butt.

I turn the trade chat completely off.

Its revolting. Constant stream of spam you can barely even read one person’s post xD.

Apparently this is OK to some people because it’s “legitimate trade” to advertise a boost run even if you’re not selling anything yourself, it’s not even on your own server and no matter how detrimental it is to other people.

I have it on another tab, I access it if I need it, which is mostly only when people claim things on the forums and I have to go check

I don’t struggle to communicate with my fellow players and can manage fine using general.

Edit to add - what isn’t okay is them clogging up the group finder. I really wish they had harsher punishments to stop them. They have trade, use it.

yeah seems only way to block get ride of it is use bad boy addon :frowning:

But hardly an improvement over actual trade.

I mean, I recall way back in the day, when people would actually advertise their professions and various bits and items they had for sale.

That kind of trade chat has been all but drowned out by the boosting advertisements.

And I do think the original intent of the trade chat was to facilitate a public chat for crafters to advertise their services and adventurers to sell their goods, not professional boosting organisations to market their customer offers.

Tbh I feel the professions have been killed off in that sense (to be selling anything in trade). We used to see more of that in trade because it served a purpose, now it’s rare someone comes to you with the mats for something.

I do think things like being able to sell direct on the AH has removed a lot of the need for trades as well.

I admit I once did consider buying nzoth boost.

aye. someone was advertising two items yesterday in trade, cheaper than AH and probably looking for some connection or something, but I’ve done so in the past and had some success and enjoyed the interaction, and tat#s just it, it should be about interaction, not what these bots and spammers are doing…

anyhow. the sad part about that was… their message very quickly got drowned out by the same crappy messages that look like my initial post.

what makes it worse is that people such as our lovely Punyelf here are actually turning trade chat off … so how does anyone offer a lovely deal to everyone if people are just blocking the channel??

This is the effect of spamming the same kind of adverts over and over… people can’t do a simple sale from person to person. the GAME element of all this is getting buried by automated ads and people running a gig to get free gametime or even some other type of financial gain that I am sure is happening somehow. like how they probably have a website and paypal all set up.
