I did a bunch of Sims on consumables the other day trying to figure out which would be most useful for different encounters.
I got a little surprised when I noticed that sims showed that I should use 2x sharpening stones and Str pot instead of weapon oil and phantom fire on single target?
What are you guys using and have you simed which is best for you?
My theory is that due to Furys currently high aura buff which only increase class abilities, not even auto attacks, the increased ability damage from the AP outweighs the wep oil and fire pots damage which only gets increased by versa as I understand it?
I tried to ask in Skyhold but they were too busy with another topic so it got buried. I would just like some more opinions and thoughts on this since I’m the only Dps warrior in our raid.
I’ve been using stones + str pot from the beginning. I don’t actually know what the “Skyhold” community agrees on but oil was proving literally worthless for Arms and when I did get around to simming it that proved to be correct.
For Fury oil does seem to be better than it is for Arms, but again it’s worse than AP (confirmed by sims). I haven’t looked into how it functions with Fury, but you have enrage (% damage modifier) + 15% haste that could influence its effectiveness in damage + proc count (I can’t confirm or deny, not tested) + Fury casts far more abilities than Arms and Rampage counts as 4 hits within 1 GCD.
So oil is good for Fury, bad for Arms but stones are better for both.
Done some more sims now after the update on Raidbots.
On single-target now using signet instead of deathmaker 2x stones and str pot is just above stone+oil and phantom fire.
The difference is less than 0.3% though, I only have 4% versatility so with more vers it’s probably gonna be better with stone+oil and fire pot on pure ST.
For multi-target 2 stones and str pot is a lot better than any other combination.
So from now on I’m just gonna keep using stones and str pot.
Edit: Just checked your profile and yeah oil is gonna be better for you.
I only have 4% vers compared to your 26% which is gonna increase your non-class damage by a fair bit.
