Season of Discovery is sadly not really taking care of the PvP players who enjoy doing that content.
Currently, players are drawn to so much borrowed power from PvE content which is eliminating all purpose for PvP Ranking/Rep Grinding for the item rewards that come with it. Despite the fact that PvP gear is better for PvP, it’s practicality in PvE is near none, which historically has been the case - but it’s especially true now. And not just that, PvP gears destroying the “SoD effect” because it lacks in the special engagement that PvE gear creates through Tier Sets.
PvE gear dependency for the majority of classes and their “optimal builds” create a false representation of which classes are actually strong.
Best example: Paladins - the burst is not that strong, you’re just too weak to tank it. The 13k HP Shaman stacking 3x 20 stamina 2/6 sets said so with multiple % damage reductions said so.
Please address the following:
- Itemization from PvP reputation: WSG, Arathi, AV rewards are so horrible, there are crafted and better dungeon gears available at fresh 60.
- Blood Moon items are boring stamina stat sticks. They need something cool tied to them.
- Rank 7-10, 12-14 gear should be THE WAY TO GO for people who want to engage in PvP, disregarding the PvE sets and items unless they are specially designed for that (like the absolutely unacceptable Might of Menethil change).
Personally, I do believe that Class Balance needs to be touched upon.
- Paladins one shot PvE players is not fun on the receiving end, but neither is Shamans not playing their class and spamming Purge for a living on their end as well.
- There is too much “automated play” involved, Balance Druids click a button and it automatically deals up to 70% of their damage.
- Shaman’s Flame Shock. Hunter’s Explosive Trap, many more etc. There is so much “ripple damage” that comes from nothing that simply starting combat gets you to 70% HP within a second.
Idk if you’ll agree or not, but we can all say for sure that we need some PvP love.

Yes, life really sucks for all 7 of you.

You raised some good points but in my opinion you missed a big one, the nerf to PvE gear in PvP content.
Vanilla/Classic WoW didn’t have this problem. Any high end item with good stats could be a PvP item. SoD created a huge accessibility problem for PvP.
Before SoD, if you had T2 or better you could easily queue a BG and do well if you played right. Now if you enter in T2 you are thrown around like a trash mob.
In the old system it’s true that weapons, especially, were significantly better than what you could get from PvP. Ok, fix that, don’t try to reinvent the wheel and throw away everything that worked.
Solution:
Either they significantly buff rank 7-10 gear so that it significantly stronger and easy to acquire or they start reverting some absurd stamina nerfs on PvE gear and maybe disable PvE set bonuses in PvP to compensate.
As long as it will take rank 12-14 to finally feel like you can compete - especially on classes that don’t do well in the current meta, PvP in SoD will be a barren wasteland.
Ain’t no one got patience to join SoD PvP with a fresh char/alt only to be a target dummy for dozens and dozens of hours.

I mean pvp can be fun and all.
But i think majority of players does pvp for gear, mounts or similar rewards.
And indeed in mc phase you might want some pvp gear pieces or exalted bracers in wsg or exalted av ring.
In bwl, aq phase you want r14 weapons.
But we are in last phase with naxx raid so all pvp pieces become kinda useless. You get way better gear from crafting, doing naxx event or do naxx itself, kara dungeon etc.
So i see no point why people would spend weeks for ranks in pvp. Unless you really enjoy pvping.
Even if you enjoy pvping it might be more fun just doing alts and do lvl 20-30 wsgs etc.

That last part about wsg, i tried to que wsg while lvling and it never popped… infact bgs never popped at all sub 60.

You are asking for an entire overhaul of all PvP gear in the game, and on top of that PvP balance adjustments. None of it is going to happen because it concerns very few people but requires a lot of resources.
A couple minor nerfs to the most egregious PvP spells once per phase is the best you could hope for
If it concerns soo little players then why is everyone rolling paladins the objectivly most broken pvp class in the game?
Paladins’ popularity has nothing to do with their current PvP performance. Paladins have been the most popular class on the Alliance side since phase 1, no matter how the meta evolved in PvP or elsewhere.
I don’t think it’s too much to ask for some PvP love.
Bliz forum - is a place for tears and crying about averything, thats all. With who you try to discus here ? With this 4k forum posts clowns ?) They dont play this game, only forum, waste of time they are useless.
Pvp weapons need an upgrade, they are like greens compared to naxx weapons
Rank 14 weapons are OP with the 5% dmg reduction and insane stamina on them, the only better weapon is MoM in my opinion.
Casters don’t struggle with choices since they can play with off-hand, which also provide 5%.
Well, daggers for rogues are really bad compared to kingsfall
I don’t know what Blizzard should do to improve pvp gear and stuff.
But I do know 7 is still more than 0.
Probably the only 7 considering pvp as an important feature in this game and taking it seriously as we all should, at least at the bare minimum.
Starting by grouping to clear annoying pvp boys rather than running solo only to die (it’s an MMO, right ? Then use the players around you), also wearing pvp set when NOT in instance (more HP/armor = more survival chances) since ranking is now a walk in the park.
Buffing yourself correctly before running in the wild and having a few potions/items to help you escape, these are little details, but sometimes details can save you a ghost walk.
These things won’t turn you into a pvp beast, but you won’t be that expected easy target. And that is the whole point.
Guess is still better that being part of these (many) others that keep being surprised, frustrated and are always unprepared for every encounter (fair and unfair ones), especially in heated areas, while they signed up for a pvp server and thought they could safely ride from A to B point, as if the whole game was an endless starting area.
This story is as old as the game is and the fact I’m writing this in late Feb 2025 is crazy.
